Ambushing gives the unit a combat bonus and causes it to automatically attack any enemies that move adjacent to it. That still applies when the ambushing unit is in a base, unless that was changed in 1.11.

New minefields keep appearing within my units' line of sight and ambush range, without the enemies planting them being detected or attacked. Is that working as intended? I am playing on Elite AI.

Running the launcher always pops up the UAC dialog for admin permissions in any case, but I tried doing as you suggested, and the result was the same as previously.

Can't delete placed units in editor?

While in the editor, it doesn't seem I can delete units that I've already placed. I can delete terrain just fine with the Delete key if I'm in terrain placement mode, but pressing the Delete key won't delete units, even if I'm in unit placement mode. Am I missing something?

The scouting command does not increase the 2 square range of scouts into terrain features that provide cover for infantry. It does increase the view of open terrain from 6 to 7 I think. ... Infantry units always reveal all hidden enemy units within their scouting range that are also within their line of sight.
