Re: Game with best AI

2) Pike and Shot / Sengoku Jidai. AI is more than competent. Some battles are hard to win. No easy victories. Though it's far from the worst AI in strategy games, I find the Sengoku Jidai AI still has some fairly basic issues that make it too easy to defeat in detail. Once local superiority is achi...

Re: A look at features in Afghanistan '11 - Hearts & Minds!

Oh, I think I wasn't quite clear. I am talking about the number '50' in hearts and minds. That number dropped very fast over a few turns it dropped to 42 as far as I remember. But you couldn't see anywhere why. There's a Civil Affairs report that you can check to see all the factors that affected y...

This really seems like the kind of information that ought to be reflected on those units' list of traits. I mean, that's what it is there for, right?

Re: In Game Army List Encyclopedia?

I think this is a good suggestion. I've been going into the skirmish mode to get this kind of information, but comparing army lists that way is rather cumbersome.

Re: Unit statistics questions / upgrade cost

a) The game shows the exact experience amount as a tooltip if you mouse over the experience bar. b) Each air unit's defense type is listed as either 'LARGE' or 'SMALL' at the bottom of the unit's statistics sheet. This determines which of their two corresponding attack statistics, 'Attack against [A...

Re: Protected + RG

RG stands for Regimental Guns. They're integrated light artillery that add to the unit's firepower, have a range of 4 squares and add 50 points of advantage in the impact phase against enemy charges.

BTW are Soar and GShock both the same person? No. I did wonder whether he accidentally posted in the wrong thread. Your (or Soar's) points in the first post very reasonable and noted for future action when time permits. Glad to hear it. It'll be nice to have the annoyances fixed, and I anticipate t...

Some more feedback

I've been continuing my previous Imjin War campaign as the Koreans in patch 1.28, so here's some suggestions and observations. 1. I haven't seen any more suicidal solo charges by AI units since 1.28, which is good, but the way the AI uses its army still seems a bit disorganized. It seems to often ch...

Re: advices for a korean/chinese beginner

The thing is that cavalry melees were not really static things, but we can't really show that on the map. So although the engaged cavalry looks like a tempting target in the game, in reality the cavalry would not necessarily hang around long enough for infantry to charge them. Also, non-warrior inf...

The AI seems to have a habit of dripping in troops piecemeal

So far I'm feeling positive overall regarding the game, but based on watching gameplay videos on Youtube pre-release and fighting several battles in the Imjin War campaign, it seems like the AI will often charge one strong unit (for example - in several cases that I've seen - Yari Samurai with a gen...

Re: Sengoku Jidai: Shadow of the Shogun is OUT!

I've been looking forward to this game - I just bought the Collector's Edition. However, in the store, there was no indication that there is a 10% launch discount - is it included in the current list price of 38.99 EUR?

Re: Tanks & terrain

The difficulty of crossing rivers is already represented. An unit may not enter a river hex unless it is adjacent to it prior to the move, and moving into a river hex uses up all of an unit's movement points. When moving out of a river hex, units are likewise restricted to moving to an adjacent hex....

Re: Order of Battle Addiction

Yesterday, other than to get up and grab a quick bite or scoot off to the bathroom, I was playing OOB Pacific ... until about 5:30 AM ... straight thru, 12 hrs + -- 15, actually. My eyes ere blurred and my legs were stiff, but man, I had a good time. Be sure to take a break to walk around at least ...

Re: Problem

It's normal for the title in the launcher to read "Order of Battle: Morning Sun". 'Morning Sun' is additional content for Order of Battle: Pacific - if you click 'Play Order of Battle' in the launcher, the base game should launch and the original Pacific campaigns should be available in the Single P...

Collated issue reports (Japanese campaign / game rules)

I bought the game during the recent Steam sale and have been playing through the Japanese campaign. I have run into a number of minor, game-rules or scenario-scripting-related issues, which I will collate, as I encounter them, in this thread. For any issues of a more technical nature where my system...

Re: [2.0.2 Build 1125] Game hangs at end of deployment phase

No idea, I didn't notice anything strange beforehand. I had previously engaged Ravengard in 2 battles, first defending Placid against their counterattack (having advanced there from Clovendale) and retreating, then counterattacking back into Placid and destroying the remaining Ravengard forces there...

[2.0.2 Build 1125] Game hangs at end of deployment phase

I usually hang out at the Steam forums, but they block links to file hosting services and I need to provide the savegame for this one, so here goes. I have a savegame with a reproduceable hang after the battle deployment step. Steps to reproduce: Load the attached savegame, end the turn. Ravengard w...

Okay, I tried that, and I can confirm that running Steam as administrator does allow it to successfully launch the game.

Re: Steam version - Game crashes trying to launch from launc

If I try to launch the game through the launcher, first the error popup on the left pops up, and once I click OK, the one on the right does, while the game fails to launch. http://i60.tinypic.com/v7fsqs.jpg If I navigate to BA2.exe and launch it manually, the game launches fine, so this is not actu...
