Re: Just finished my first game

I started with a few starts as Cheruscii, where the whole economy of the nation could be understood. But I couldn't survive the aggression of all my neighbours. So I waited for the first patch, and then wanted to start with a stable powerful nation instead, and I chose Ptolemy. However, with so many...

Re: New player here

So next a few centuries back, with the Franks against the Visigoths. Interestingly, it seems the Franks learned something about cavalry from the Goths, as the Visigoths came with a kind of early form of the later Frankish army, with a fair few lancers, while the Franks basically fought with Roman ti...

New player here

I was led to this game through AGEOD Empires. This game comes closest to my boardgame experience with the Richard Berg games (Alexander, Legion, Caesar etc) of the 1980's. One's role is not being an ancient general with an army, but a board wargamer with his counters, or a tabletop player with his m...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires updated to version 1.0.2

And, to my delight: changed the order of the scenarios, so now the Grand Campaign is the default scenario.

Re: Why have my Spartan phalanxes deteriorated in quality

How were the units changed in the Empires stats during the first battle.

The troop quality in FoG2 is derived, so your complaints would probably be caused by data on the Empires side.

Re: Army not retreating after losing?

I am just guessing, because I lack the experience, but could it be that close victories in FoG2 are treated as draws in Empires?

As maybe FoG2 produces few draws, while Empires expects more (in closely balanced fights) in its strategic model.

I am not from Slitherine, but registration is only meant for direct Slitherine customers, as it includes customer service and sometimes specific goodies.

Re: Multiplayer Crash bij Challenge

OK, thanks, I will wait a few days.

(and maybe with that reduced AI aggression I don't need two Germanic factions to survive :P )

Re: Multiplayer Crash bij Challenge

OK, that worked.

Why did it have to be removed?

Can I try to create a new challenge?

What about the second account I made?

Questions, questions. :|

Multiplayer Crash bij Challenge

I tried to play MP (actually to hotseat with myself using two factions cooperatively). I can login with my Slitherine account, but at first I entered email instead of username, that didn't work, then I created a new account (for which I haven't received a confirmation mail), and with that one I coul...

Re: That was a fast victory!

Proof of how quick that was:

Image

Recruited a unit at 04:01
Captured Tarentum at 04:06
Victory at 04:07

That was 5 minutes of active game play.

Still wondering why I got those 50000 legacy points. Did I kill Pyrrhus?

Fraps still works fine with this game. (I bought that program 20 years ago or so). For screenshots the only limitation for the free version is that it saves as BMP, not in a compressed form, so you have to convert them manually if you want to upload them somewhere (use free Irfanview for batch conve...

Re: That was a fast victory!

This game has still that AGE WEGO aspect that makes for some hard and tense tactical decisions that can mean the difference between victory and defeat, depending on whether you guess right what the opponent does. But it lacks the rules of engagement options of AGE. How do we call that in wargame ter...

Immediately, but at first the production is very low because of unhappiness over the occupation.

Re: That was a fast victory!

So I played some turns as Cheruscii, and I have a game play questions: - After a couple of turns of expansion to form the province of Magna Germania, a new nation, the Saxons, spawned directly on our Northern border to declare war on us. How does this spawning of new nations work? How is it triggere...

That was a fast victory!

Bought this game yesterday and played the Pyrrhus scenario as Rome, on easy, because. Moved my army to Taranto, met Pyrrhus on the way, a draw battle, movement continued to Taranto, where I won a battle. Turn 2 I head back to catch Pyrrhus, this triggered another battle at Taranto, which I won, and ...
