Re: The Rally Point

How frequent are the "seasons"?

As a new DL player I didn't want to enter too many sections this go round so I was curious from your experience in the FOG1 DL how often new seasons were started. Will a new season start directly following the end of this one in April?

Wow - great mod. Thanks for all the hard work. I love the LBMS shield transfers - they are on the shields of my 15mm TT FOG Graeco-Bactrian and Classical Greek armies.

Re: how to play cataphracts

I thought cats were used against foot more than against other cavalry on flank because of the lack of mobility. The armored knights in the ancient era so to speak. Of course charging the front of fresh heavy foot, spearmen or pikes in particular is a problem for all cavalry. Historically if you look...

Re: Proper use of light troops in skirmish role?

I believe the javelins (JLS) have good factors against cavalry in the impact phase, what happened in the subsequent melees? I think though that this seems a rare set of luckily rolls by the light infantry. I find that once in a while light infantry may hold up battle units in the open, but usually n...

Re: Field of Glory II - Holiday 2017 Tournament

@Muso - Are these pretty standard tournament rules regarding "Round times and timing out"? I haven't played in any of the previous FOG2 tournaments but have played many of PBEM or similar format tournaments for other games. Usually even aggressive timeline tournaments shoot for 1 turn per day as if...

Re: Field of Glory II: Immortal Fire announced!

While the list above has Spartans - what about the rest of the Greeks, Athenians, Thebans, etc. In the TT book there was a Classical Greek army list (faction if you must) that covered all the city states, Spartans included. How is this going to work in FOGII? The following Greek lists are included....

Re: Field of Glory II: Immortal Fire announced!

Great! I have the book from the TT game. Mind you every time I see the term "faction" used for historical armies/nations I shudder! :( While the list above has Spartans - what about the rest of the Greeks, Athenians, Thebans, etc. In the TT book there was a Classical Greek army list (faction if you ...

Re: Field of Glory II Tournament

Several points from TT tournaments. They are usually run as an "open" - ie you choose whatever army you want to play, or "theme" where the armies are restricted to time period or historical match ups. Obviously it is early days with FOGII with only one time period available. What about a tournament ...

Re: Mideast terrain and vegetation

Nice write up - very informative. On point 3 would it have been more heavily wooded 2500 years ago? My understanding was that there was less desert then anyway - the "fertile crescent", etc.

Re: Auto-evasion

As a practical matter what troop types does this involve? In the TT game light troops must evade from heavies, and may evade from other lights. Certain cavalry may evade. (If I recall that was non-impact cavalry). So the player decision was fairly limited but having said that it could be a crucial o...

Hoping someone can chime in. I'm a late 40's wargamer whose sole interest is the Celtic Migrations through Europe, plenty of opponents that way. In the 30 odd years I've been wargaming the normal abstractions used like figure ratios and figure scale really got to me. For the last 10 years I've been ...

Re: Generals

Does anyone keep a general behind the line out of combat to rally disordered or fragged units? Going back to the OP it is another use for a general - transfer to a unit for rally bonuses. This can be one of the most useful application of a general unit. +50 PoA isn't small but it isn't game breakin...

Re: Rules tweak and/or avoiding awkward tournament setups.

You have experienced a longstanding issue in the miniatures tournament world - the "shooty cavalry" army. Very hard to get an army break within the time limit just by shooting. That said many good players can break armies this way as you did. Frustrating for the foot army, but it seems you just abou...

One way to find out is follow the results in the Fringe Tournament. Isn't one battle Indians v Sarmations? i.e.; a cav heavy army.
