Re: Rallying/charging etc.

Better quality should get bonus on rally. Sending a general to it will help as well.

Re: Warbands need a rebalance???

I believe the Skilled Swordsman was removed in the 2nd Ed. because it made the Roman's OP. I do like the fact that the PC version allows for much more gradations in the POAs though. I think the difference from the TT version for warbands is the size factor which was not present there. A unit was a u...

Re: Warbands need a rebalance???

Clearly that would be a next step, when/if a consensus has been formed about this is an issue worth reviewing more closely. I've probably played a dozen very large battles involving Gauls at this point, on both sides, and so far think that if there is an issue--not yet certain-- it is that Gaullic ...

Re: Suggestion for you - Switchable units

I'm pretty sure skirmisher is not a good way to depict them even at the start of a battle. Possibly a better question for English longbowmen is whether in the WotR (and maybe late HYW) they should be separate from the men-at-arms types or in a combined body ...  The Foard and Curry...

Re: Suggestion for you - Switchable units

But in the end in medieval armies you are going to need add mounted-dismounted knights and the portable defenses for longbow units.... With the medieval period there is also the interesting question of how you might deal with longbowmen. At the start of the battle could they be classed as skirmishe...

Re: Zama - Historical Simulation - Good Joke part 2

Alhtough I have to say I'm very frustrated with my recent rape in Tournament/PBEM to the point I considered ragequitting the wole thing, I think your own rage is quite not as righteous as mine ! If you want a fine simulation, maybe try Europa Barbarorum 2 for Medieval Total War 2 ? That might be th...

Re: Do Parthia need a boost?

Parthians or as we say "shooty cav" armies play much differently on the table top without the limited ammo rule. Still not easy to play and could often end up in a draw result. More frustrating for the infantry army player tbh.

Re: Slingers vs Javelinmen

It's not about my love of javelins.. its about my interest in ancient warfare where those javelins played very important role. After all, Legions were dominantly using these javelins in large numbers .. It always fascinated me how javelins disappeared from battlefields, yet they still were quite vi...

Re: First expansion

If I recall correctly tabletop FOG went with Storm of Arrows and Immortal Fire as the first two army books. Putting those out simultaneously would cover a lot.

Re: Would you be a more active player with a LIVE MP mode ?

I play a few online MMO games in a clan as well. Not sure I would do the same with FOGII since it is turn based anyway. I also play tabletop games so have the gold standard wargaming experience - FTF play 8) I wonder if you could play live online using the pbem system and TS or Discord? Especially w...

Re: Slingers vs Javelinmen

Javelins have a +POA in impact for the javelins whereas slingers and bowmen do not, hence they are at an advantage in first round of combat. Maybe this has been changed in the new version but that's the way it was in tabletop FOG. Also my point is that most skirmishing missile troops (LI ) javelins,...

Re: The Lack of Generals

I have been thinking about this. Maybe one way of doing it is to give every army a C-in-C, but then players would have to buy any additional sub-generals? And maybe the maximum number of sub-generals available could be adjusted according to the size of the battle? So for the smaller battles players...

Re: Slingers vs Javelinmen

Lots of discussion about penetrative power of javelins (why do I feel I should be reading this in a tank sim forum  ), but it is really irrelevant for slings. The main effect of a sling stone is going to be concussive, which can be bad even with a helmet given a head hit. I think though as RBS...

Excellent report! Loving the look of the game - a bit more like P&S than the first FOG - no comparison to the first version really looking much better!

Also fingers crossed for the next beta wave!

Re: Field of Glory II is announced!

This is great news. I was a FOG table top player for a number of years. I always thought that FOGR streamlined the table top version and so now with the PC versions - the excellent Pike & Shot and now FOG II. Hmm that leaves one other tabletop FOG version to port over to this PC engine......FOGN say...

Re: cannot charge

Is foot still precluded from charging mounted in rough or difficult going? What about if the mounted unit is Fragmented?

Sorry I don't have the manual or FOGR rules at hand to check this one.

Thanks

Re: Leaders

First things first, congratulations on producing the game Richard. I've been interested in the period for a very long time and this is the game I've been hoping someone would do for the last 20 years. Well done. As for leaders, personally I think not having them is a good decision. The 16th century...
