Re: British (Allied) Peninsular Army

There are many factors that figure into this argument, not the least of which was the quality and size of horses. As time went on the French suffered from poor quality mounts (especially in 1813 no longer having the Prussian stud system to supply them and having lost far too many the year prior). I ...

Re: An utter n00b who wants to sell some figurines

Thanks to both of you, a bit of follow up-- if you have any extra figures in firing poses, voliteurs, etc. you could throw in several of those for skirmish bases/markers (units can have skirmished as an attachment or go into skirmish formation for light infantry. I do as a matter of fact--three eli...

Re: British (Allied) Peninsular Army

No they just charged the light dragoons who rolled a bunch of 2 ... Ok it's a joke ..but the story is truth : the 10th chasseur did crush the 23rd light dragoon French cavalry was far from bad and british cavalry not a supercavalry . There is even a fench cavalry charge that routed KGL heavy dragoo...

Re: An utter n00b who wants to sell some figurines

Since I already based everything mostly in 8s for "LaSalle" I have stuck with it, except for light infantry and command bases. So for the most part I use units of 32 or 48 for the 6 base (large) units. Since I have Austrians I have alot of those! In addition to the casualty markers if you have any e...

Re: Figure preparation HELL

Ditto on the black primer (Krylon, etc). Need warm temps. (55 degrees F+) Just make sure you have ventilation!

I have never washed a metal miniature before priming, just remove flash, drill hands and spray.

Re: Cold Wars 2013 March 7-10

I am one of those "exhausted" players! I drifted away from FOG AM because of the long games, sometimes without a decisive result. I have been reading with interest about the mini-comps with 400-500 pts, I would definately be in favor of trying those. I also like the idea of set terrain, which may co...

Re: Basing Light Cavalry

If you think your light units might break next turn, put them in skirmish order so no-one has to test when they see them break! Only a Dutch-Belgian commander could think of that one! A commander of a real man's army never thinks any of his troops might break next turn! :P Ah, but the D-B lights on...

Re: 800 or 1000

One additional point for tournaments would be the time factor. FOG-AM or FOG-R 800 pt games are allocated 3 to 3 1/2 hours for each round. What would be a realistic time frame for a 1000pt FOG-N game? I think this is very evolutionary. Right now a lot of people are learning mechanisms. Good point. ...

Wow - what a great resource - and thanks to Mr. Nafziger for donating his collection. I can remember going to conventions and buying oob from him years ago. I didn't see that oob either. Looks like there are 1809 oob scattered throughout the document through. I did get the search function to work - ...

Re: Attachment confusion

ooh nothing like starting massive controversy with a simple question .... Actually as I see it, and this is how I actually interpret it all dreaming aside, if you have one large cuirassier unit you get the mandatory artillery for the division. If you have 2 small units one of them can have an artil...

Re: Attachment confusion

I respectfully have to disagree. You have layed out one possible interpretation of the word "additionally" but not the only, or the most obvious one. Another, equally valid interpretation is to view the word as imposing an additional restriction on the assignment of the 1 (maximum) artillery attach...

Aren't the integral voligeur companies reflected by the "Reformed" line infantry status? ie; battalions throwing out the light company in a skirmish screen whilst advancing in column, etc.? Whereas the skirmish attachments represent extra skirmish companies from jaeger or rifle companies not integra...

Re: QRS: Update??

It was mentioned a while back that a revised QRS was being worked on or would be worked on. Any update on this? There's an "unoffical" QRS available on the FOGN Yahoogroup - just uploaded last week. It is multiple pages but well done and most importantly -readable for those of us with "older" eyes!...
