Re: Should Panthers be cheaper?

Sorry, you've lost me here. First of all, what does power to weight ratio have to do with ground pressure and what made you think that M4 had a better ratio than Panther? The best possible combination for M4 (don't know if it actually existed) would be 450hp / 30t = 15 hp per ton, for Panther it's ...

Re: Herr Pferdmann rides again!

August 6th 1942 08:00 (1) The gentle quiet of the area was breached by the noise of 4.Aufklärungs Abt. as they scouted the path ahead. A lone battalion of British Engineers stood ready to defend Beer Sheva. Pferdmann’s brow creased with concern. The British were not known to leave the forward posit...

Re: Herr Pferdmann rides again!

Levant July 29th 1942 Karl and Otto were covered in oil. They had spent the past few days trying to piece Bertha back together following the damage she’d sustained during a naval bombardment. “It’s no good Otto, we’ll never get her right again” Otto, fighting back the tears ,looked at Karl “Don’t s...

Re: Should Panthers be cheaper?

I think when talking about light/medium/heavy in regards to tank classifications it was used mainly as a definition of role rather than just weight. With regards to the Panther - it was intended to replace the PzIII & IV as Germany's front line tank (obviously production never got close to being abl...

Re: Herr Pferdmann rides again!

July 23rd 1942 (23) British commandos were amongst the finest of the British infantry. Fortified in Cairo they posed a grave threat. 37.Pioneers Abt however were combat veterans. Well versed in dislodging stubborn infantry from defensive positions and their leader, Obersleutnant Schwarz, would suff...

July 20th 1942 (20) The Dandalo, ever mindful of enemy Destroyers, surged forward through the Suez canal. Up ahead with her guns pointing inland she located the HMS Sussex. Re: Should Panthers be cheaper?

I guess the only real way to stop getting only the best all the time Would be to have strength point limits for practically everything, so treat all units like prototypes where you only have limited availability but more generous in SP allocation. This could go someway to say there's only so many T...

Re: Should Panthers be cheaper?

However, both of these tanks were extremely failure-prone, which should also be taken into account when setting their ratios compared to other tanks I think that is a bit too harsh. Neither were particularly failure-prone when running normally. They had their issues early on, which is completely no...

Re: Should Panthers be cheaper?

It seems unit cost is calculated based solely on unit stats, using some formula. These creates questionable situations, like T-34 / KV 1 having roughly same price or specialist infantry having almost same price, as regular. But generally speaking there is so much prestige in the game and upgrade fa...

Re: Losing the entire game due to missing by one or two turns is garbage.

How about posting a reply that doesn't resort to insults? Like you said everyone's points are valid. You had an idea and I've posted a reply stating why I think it's not very good, notably without insulting you directly. Your idea doesn't have zero merit, but a solution already exists without need t...

Re: How to disable automatic Un-mount?

I have a group of pioneers sitting in a nice and shiny SDKFZ 250/1. I want them to stay in their mount for the added protection, however, even when I manually mount them prior to movement, the automatically unmount. I could do this in PZ1, what am I missing here? You're not missing anything. As it ...

And in general, why do tanks have such very high SA?
My guess would be that tanks have a high shock effect on soft targets.
Most tanks also carry one or more HMG. These would contribute to SA.

But I agree with Nexus - SA values on tanks do seem a little high.

Re: Captured equipment

As Winston Churchill said about eating words. Having restated the campaign and focused nor on capturing units and having the “Trophies of War” trait, I’ve been able to capture enough enemy equipment to totally replace my Panzer1bs with T-26s. That really helps a lot! That's the catch 22. Without hi...

Stop the war, Fischers run out of tea. No more advance into Cairo until the tea supply turns up.
Nah - we'll take all the tea we need off the Brits......I'm sure every time a unit surrenders we get at least several kilos!

Re: Brunete scenario will not end

So I have turned off the turn limit, but have cleared the map totally of all republican forces (including the pill box top left!). All the victory hexes are occupied. I achieved this around turn 25. I am now up to turn 54 and the game refuses to end. Why is this? I thought turning off the turn limi...

Re: Bug Reports

No artillery will not fire in support of AT guns against hard targets Good to know, but I think that's not right. Why not? I understand the AT not supporting AT, but artillery should support everything within the hard/soft support rules. I believe, but not positive, that I've seen the AI's artiller...

Re: Armored Car Fuel Consumption

Just a guess, but could it be fuel is being used for MP consumed and not hexes traveled? Wheel units eat 2x MP for movement over clear. ^ This It is the number of movement points expended that eat fuel. Try moving a speed 8 unit into an "all" hex (for example rough during frozen conditions). Combin...
