Re: Pike & Shot Running in Mac-Wine?

Glad to see that others have had success getting P&S working in wine using these instructions. If P&S does get an official mac version please be sure to support rbodleyscott and Slitherine. @rbodleyscott: I hope having these instructions here is alright. If not I'll happily take them down. @everyone...

Re: Pike & Shot Running in Mac-Wine?

Hey Vicco, Here are instructions on how to get Pike and Shot working using a Wineskin Wrapper (this worked better then wine bottler for me). The nice thing about this approach is you'll have a self contained application in the end. 1 ) google wineskin or go to http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-i...

Re: Pike & Shot Running in Mac-Wine?

Seems to work with wine 1.7.30 on my macbook with Yosemite. While I haven't been able to get it to bundle itself into a working self-contained (wine bottled) app, I did get Pike and Shot to load up after directly running the installer using the wine files prefix and then going to the game executable...

Re: Winning The Battle Of Lutter

I just finished my first play-through of this scenario and while it ended up in a defeat I think the crux is the left flank where the Imperial forces have the bulk of their Tercios positioned. Making a mobile defensive line and trading space for time using the fall back command seemed like the best ...

Re: Mac version ?

Love the PC version when I'm home and at my desktop. However, a OSX version would be great for on the go. Never did jump on the iPad bandwagon. Steam's streaming function is decent and that's what I've been using if I want to play it on my Mac laptop while doing stuff around the house. Great having ...

Re: Battle of Wimpfen

Useful tips there strombringer3. The detached musketeers worked nearly as well in the marshland as they do in the forests. The Kurassiers did well sent around the left too. The gunpowder explosion didn't trigger for me this time (so it seems like it doesn't necessarily happen on every play through).

Re: Battle of Wimpfen

Been fighting this one too. Can get very close on the medium difficulty setting but haven't won yet. The Imperial side usually seems to cause the Protestant right to collapse by massing on the single redoubt. While I hold the center they usually get at least one or two Tercios through on the right. ...

Re: Pike & Shot is now available!

Just played through the first two tutorials and am enjoying Pike and Shot a lot so far. The early modern period is such a great wargaming setting and it is really nice to see another computer game dealing with conflicts during the 16th and 17th centuries as games dedicated to this are few and far be...

Re: pre-sale & release

Here are some links of historical interest on the ECW, 17th century tactics (including animated explanations of maneuvers within formations), and the First Battle of Breitenfeld that should make for some fun reading for everyone while they wait. :D http://bcw-project.org http://syler.com - 17th Cent...

Re: Expansion campaigns?

Regarding the scenarios this first impressions article from the Wargamer lists the ones from the version they got to play: http://www.wargamer.com/article/3674/first-impressions-thirty-years-of-war-with-pike-and-musket From my short experience with the first Battle Academy the engine uses the word c...

Re: pre-sale & release

Just picked up Battle Academy the other day and have to say that Pike and Shot is looking really cool too. I particularly, enjoyed the live-stream. Looks like you will really have to watch over your cavalry to maximize their potential especially as they have to adjust facing to maneuver in the oppos...
