Re: The development of firearms and proximity to nomads

Another book that many be of interest related to this subject but not so focused on the proximity to nomads aspect: https://www.amazon.com/Gunpowder-Age-Military-Innovation-History/dp/0691178143 https://press.princeton.edu/titles/10571.html Simple proximity to nomads alone isn't enough IMO to explai...

Re: Advice Please Re Migrating to P&S campaigns

@MooN Use the original stand alone (slitherine/matrix web store version) Pike and Shot serial code you have as the coupon code during check out. It still works for me. If you registered the game the original serial should be in the members area of the website (for new orders it seems to register the...

Re: Fatigue

I guess one could envision a system whereby units that are moved continuously or under enemy fire / melee combat over a number of turns or which charge and pursue get a fatigue designation or token that they can only recover by not being involved in combats / not moving for a number of turns. Presum...

Re: Fatigue

There isn't a discrete fatigue system or mechanic as far as I am aware. It is simply abstracted into overall cohesion and unit quality. In the map based campaigns units can be under strength at the beginning of battles too. A few of the historical scenarios I think tweak unit quality / mark units as...

Re: How to play an Ottoman army (Great Turkish War)

Only charge at good odds after disrupting enemy units. You don't want to hurl the bow cavalry or Janissaries straight into charges and melees right a way.

Re: How to play an Ottoman army (Great Turkish War)

Also I find focusing using your Janissary volleys to disrupt the enemy cavalry (although be careful if they are pistol armed Kurraissers) and fighting more of a running harassing battle against the heavier infantry tends to help if you end up finding the Janissaries faltering head on versus the pike...

Re: How to play an Ottoman army (Great Turkish War)

Shoot, Shoot, Shoot, and scoot. Use the hilltops and rough terrain. The bow cavalry has extra range compared to the carbine ones and most shot armed troops. The Veteran Janissaries can be nasty buggers if they manage to get enough volleys off. Depends on who you are fighting and the battlefield but ...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires - The Challenge

I noticed different folks are interpreting the challenge in somewhat different ways. Das did only the Italia Superior and Inferior areas. While one or two others on youtube went for all of Cisalpine Gaul too. I assume the intent of the challenge is solely the Italia labeled provinces and nothing mor...

Enjoyed this tournament. Some close battles. Avars versus Byzantines was a wild ride.

Congrats Nijis, CheAhn, and SnuggleBunnies for racking up the most points!

Re: Error message Failed to fetch data from battle state: sizes

Roll back of the turn enabled me to load the game successfully...hopefully that sorts it. None of my other ongoing games have had this error so that is good. Also thanks for the prompt and personable support.

Re: Error message Failed to fetch data from battle state: sizes

Only this one so far. Going to try to load up with the rolled back turn tomorrow. If that doesn’t work I plan to coordinate with my opponent to start a fresh game. Will update here after seeing how it goes.

Re: Crecy 1346

French have the numbers so not sure if making the longbows weaker is a good idea. Liked this scenario versus the AI. Played the middle difficulty. Despite losses from the English volleys the AI seemed to have trouble stopping the French if you push through the flanks and secure the Wadicourt Road to...

I'm getting a similar although not exactly the same error on trying to load a PBEM++ game.
