Re: With Genpei war announced, I got a few questions

@ Turtler, Wow those are some very good observations and suggestions. Thanks for such a detailed write-up on one of the ideas I have been musing over for a while. I've always been a fan of games that show history as the grand opera, with broad, recognizable and repeatable strokes. There are very few...

Re: What would you like next DLC campaign you'd find coming?

Please add more multiplayer content. Let me play as Nationalist China versus early Japan if I have the morning Sun expansion for example. Current multiplayer is always USA versus Japan and always on the same old maps.

Re: With Genpei war announced, I got a few questions

East vs West proposition of the same era as SJ is interesting too. I bet Kongxinga wants to play Koxinga's Chinese army vs the Dutch in Formosa. Yes, very much. I have to force myself to sit down and work through all the modding documentation and make it happen one of these weekends. Koxinga has so...

Re: With Genpei war announced, I got a few questions

Oh man, this is pretty OT, but When the last sword is gone is a great movie. I think it may have been on hulu once. I am also hoping for more inter nation DLCs. Japan versus Japan is not as interesting since the army lists somewhat similar, so I don't get the thrill of asymetric combat. Which is why...

Re: Further Reading Online Resources

Coincidentally, when talking about both movies and the Great Ming Blog, I watched a terrible depiction of the Mandarin Duck Squad in a movie. Frankly, I should be thankful that Mandarin duck squad even made it to a movie, but the movie depicted 5 guys, 3 with shields and holding no weapons, and 2 wi...

Re: Considerations on the Genko Campaign (Japanese side)

Now I hear what GShock is saying, and I agree the AI could do a better job. On the other hand, I understand that writing good AI, whether classical game AI or the newer data driven ones is VERY HARD. So most game programmers don't have the resources, time , know how or ability to write good AIs apar...

Re: Cavalry evasion

I thought it was all non lance cavalry can evade? So basically all cavalry but Japanese Yari Cav. Its probably the same thing since non yari cav are all pretty much archer/sword cav? Is there some guidance on the chance on a unit evading? I know each unit gets a random + or -4 to its AP and the sums...

Re: Is it even possible to win Tenryu in open battle?

On Ming Strategy, should archers be bought with regimental guns if I mean to keep them behind the frontline to shoot over the heads of other troops? Or in other words, do regimental guns get the ability to indirect fire if placed in an archer unit? Also is it just me, or do attached regimental guns ...

Phew, much better. It was getting old seeing my arqubusiers being called "Honjin" etc. This is so great.

Re: Will Ming in Crisis be released as a campaign?

This game is now complete. I've managed to get it working, although it took manual creating a copy of the Sengoku Jidai Campaign in file explorer. Creating it in the game editor makes a new folder somewhere that I am not sure exactly. Pasting in the squads and armies then meant I could launch the ca...

Re: Will Ming in Crisis be released as a campaign?

Personally I don't care if we take the Sengoku Jidai Random campaign but allow Ming in Crisis armies to fight each other, on any type of map, even the reused one in Sengoku Jidai Random campaign. I just want to have a campaign core that I can build from raw to elite over a campaign, instead of one o...

Re: Further Reading Online Resources

I agree, the lack of a Ming Remnants list is something that needs to be modded in asap, along with the Colonial Dutch and Portuguese and Russians. There needs to be finer gradients of armour in the game. Most troops in SJ are either unarmoured or armoured, and only very few units are well armoured (...

Re: Further Reading Online Resources

These are great resources. I read the Ming resource, and it had some very good information on Koxinga's troops, and the descriptions seem very close to my understanding. I was pretty shocked that SJ had Ming as such a glass cannon shooty army, to the point it was hard to find troops to act as the co...

Re: Considerations on the Tenka Fubu Campaign

I haven't finished a Sengoku Campaign yet, but from what I remember from Pike and shot, your objective is to crush the enemy's will to fight, not necessarily to take all his provinces, although that certainly helps. IIRC, once you have a +6 victory margin (ie your victories minus his victories) the ...

Re: Historical Scenarios

While we are on the subject on Chiksan, can anyone explain why it is considered a Japanese Victory in-game? Wikipedia seems to say it is a Ming strategic Victory. I don't know anything about the battle, but wikipedia (sorry) seems to have it that a small Ming force beat a small Japanese force, then ...

Re: Rallying during combat??? Wth!

Don't the troops have better/more frequent rally chances when led by a general or C in C? That may be causing the difference in rally frequencies.

Re: advices for a korean/chinese beginner

Sorry about that mistake on rough! Too used to pike and shot where pike and shot units are either heavy keils or mixed, which do get worse in rough. Japanese spears are medium infantry so are used to rough. I also think I made the mistake of thinking the light spears did nothing against foot. For th...

Re: advices for a korean/chinese beginner

I also lost tutorial 3 on my first try, it was quite a shock since Ming was the army I was looking forward to playing as the most. Ottomans coincidentally were also my favourite army list in Pike and shot. The most important thing to remember is . 1. DO NOT MOVE YOUR TROOPS. If your troops can shoot...

Re: Buy or Wait

Yeah air gapped computers are pretty much a must if you want it to remain your computer. Security is tough, and I read about numerous ways that people can do to compromise it. For example, connect to a public wifi and that's pretty much enough for someone with know how to place illegal files on your...
