Re: Field of Glory II Second Tournament

Richard, I raised the point earlier in this thread that three rounds wasn't really long enough to allow the Swiss system to work properly. With 32 players it really needs 5 rounds, which is 10 battles each. I think the increased number of battles might also dissuade some players from entering two c...

Re: Field of Glory II Second Tournament

Maybe ever user should be limited to only one active tournament? Seems like some users get the inside scoop and sign up for every tournament. If Slitherine wants this game to grow, you have to provide a way for everybody to participate, not just the same 32 grognards. Mike Agreed. That is a good su...

Re: Would you be a more active player with a LIVE MP mode ?

At least the poll is showing there is a market for tcp/ip players out there. This site being a more PBEMish crowd I can see why the poll leans more towards them. Ask it on a more neutral site and it will probably lean the other way as much.

Re: The Lack of Generals

Multiplayer generals should be agreed on before a battle, campaign, or tournament period. Outside multiplayer you should be able to do what you like. The other option to make it more interesting is have generals available to buy before the battle, campaign or tournament, then it is up to you what yo...

Re: Placing units under a command suggestion

I prefer the generalship my way though and I like to make one long line without reserves; my flanks are my reserves depending on where the ai stacks up the strongest.

Re: First expansion

Pike n Shot is there for the medieval ages. Now, we need more ancients content. Ahem! Pike and Shot is most definitely not for the medieval period. More like "Early Modern" period, I would say. The medieval expansions that FOG has include "Wolves From the Sea", "Oath of Fealty", "Storm of Arrows", ...

Re: Would you be a more active player with a LIVE MP mode ?

I could go for a tcp/Ip system of play myself. I miss the quick skirmishes and not having to wait for someone move a week later. I forget what I am doing by then. I know this system can be played back n forth but having to check email every 5 minutes or that notification ding instead of the game jus...

Placing units under a command suggestion

Every game always having to place every unit gets rather tedious and isn't fun. Is there a way to make a left click and hold drag box to select all the units you want to put into one command general instead of doing them one at a time? This is the only thing bad about the game having to do each one,...

Re: The Lack of Generals

A real man only fights with one general. Well for multiplayer that should kind of be a house rule as I think it's gamey to buy 3 cavalry or chariots just to get an unfair advantage over your opponent.

Re: First expansion

I prefer the age of Sparta and Greeks and Persian wars. So, I'm looking for them to to back in time some more to cover the great ancient battles. It's all good though as the engine is great and looks to be able to work with all warfare up to Napoleon. They can stop there as far as I'm concerned. Got...

Re: Steam Reviews

Yeah, I have to agree the quality of the game speaks for itself and I believe the majority will like it. All games have a hate following or uneducated members. It's just natural that way. Games of good to great quality will outlast the haters an uneducated. Most people will vote positive and with th...

Re: What do the difficulty levels mean?

Which difficulty level would be the most accurate historically speaking? That remains to be seen. Modern historians agree that the figures given for numbers by ancient historians were often wildly inaccurate or deliberately exaggerated to make their side's victory sound more impressive. Sometimes t...

Re: Tutorial

It gives you basics on how to move n such. Not a real detailed how to do this or that as that's part of learning strategy and tactics is learning how to do things yourself. If you play each of the battles the tool tips will popup telling you what just happened when you did something. Those are fairl...
