Re: HistorX 2

What, bringing fortifications to a tournament? What cad would stoop to such lows. Mental note to request that the organiser for our NATCON next year banns such shenanigans. Yep. Such shenanigans might be acceptable with Baileys however... It only played a prominent part in two of h...

Re: NZ National Championships - Easter 2016

Would one day love to attend as a player. But having too much fun organising events; which means unfortunately I can't make it as I'm running another event at that time. Will pass it on to those who know others however. :D

Re: HistorX 2

For the very astute, my army list above only adds up to 770pts because there was also ... ... wait for it ... 1 x large redoubt = 3 FF !! More soon once I have a pause in travelling - but a great event and major "ups" to Lawrence for his work in putting this together ! And fab opponents and games a...

Re: HistorX 2

First day was freeboard, which is interesting as in my limited time playing FoGN, I've never really been an active proponent of the terrain and Pre-Battle Initiative setup. And in the small circle I play in up here in Brisbane, we tend to just go 'feral' and play scenarios all the time or dispense w...

I think you may have posted Keef's list twice rather than Geoff's list.

Re: HistorX 2

SOON !! Indeed. Am personally looking forward to seeing some awesome FoGN-ing tomorrow and Sunday. See you all there at 8am sharp! Weather prediction: it's looking to be a busy storm season up here in SE Qld. Had a doozy last night (although I slept right through it). Lucky the event is indoors. :)...

No, mate. Two other armies are entirely unreformed - one Iberian, the other Central European.

Re: HistorX 2

After further thought, I have decided that the Cancon prize must go to a Queenslander, and not to whomever wins the event (unless they're from Queensland). Apologies if this might have mislead a few. In all fairness, a couple from Queensland are probably able to acquit themselves well against the re...

Re: HistorX 2

um . . . I've got another dumb question about the scenarios  . . . Do the normal deployment restrictions (only skirmishers are able to leave the deployment area, etc, etc) apply to the 'defender' for the first 2 moves in each scenario ? In most of the scenarios it seems like the 'defender' s...

Re: HistorX 2

Just a reminder that the early bird price ends on the 9th October. Thereafter, it goes up. See Info pack for price (it hasn't changed through the various editions posted). Also, lists need to be submitted by 11 October; this is a hurry up to those committed to attending! Again, refer to the Info pac...

Further to the Vorenburg scenario. Don't be surprised if the map has changed somewhat. I will post an updated copy here and elsewhere by Tuesday (long weekend here in Brisbane), along with explanations of the changes. Cheers.

<* jealous of your ability to play toy soldiers *> . . . the 1812 Russian Infantry Corps are all sorted out and packed away into boxes for their international adventure, but they won't see any 'game time' until Brisbane. Heck, I won't even have deployed them before the very first game there either ...

Re: HistorX 2

It's finally October. Countdown to HistorX II. Between now and the event, hoping to playtest a few of the scenarios. Later on today (it's 2.58am local time), I'll be playing Vorenburg using my Austrians against the barbaric Gallic horde. :) Will post a couple of pics from the game.

Re: HistorX 2

Ran one of the scenario earlier in the week - Kazimierz. It ran easily enough: there is nothing extraordinary about this map. But it was a good refresher for both myself and my opponent, as we've been busy with another club campaign of late. Anyway, we're planning to run Vorenburg within the next we...

Re: The Worlds 2014 - let's get started

Hi Know it's way past post time but I am curious to learn how this went? Which also leads me to my next question: is it too early to have a global event of this kind? FoGN might be global but its market is small as far as running event. Unless there is a strong local community to support it, FoGN is...
