Re: Astronomic Postage cost.

Ah, I thought it was shipping within UK so that explains it.

What are the dimensions of the manual ( I know it has 150 pages) and is the content identical to the on-line manual?

Astronomic Postage cost.

Game is very good value as a digital download and the manual seems reasonable but postage of £17.13 seems excessive.

I sent a 2 kilo boardgame to Scotland for less than £14; just how big and heavy is that manual?

That manual looks gloriously chunky!

What are it's dimensions?

Re: FOG2 Developer’s Diary – Innovations and Differences

The game does in fact include field fortifications. They just don't appear in any of the historical battles included in the game. I have no doubt that user scenarios including field fortifications will appear before long. Ah, that's good to know, thanks. Just looking through the historical battles ...

Re: FOG2 Developer’s Diary – Innovations and Differences

The Romans built a lot of camp and other fortifications, to guard them against surprise attacks. However, Roman strategy was not to actually fight from fortifications but to march out and engage the enemy in the open. I can't claim any great expertise in this matter but I had always thought that th...

Re: Release date? Videos?

Another big thumbs-up for Das's video series.

Has produced lots of great info about various aspects of the game and he obviously gets a real kick out of playing it.

Re: Leaders and Magnesia

Hi Ben I fully understand that the extent to which a player can control their troops, or not, is a case of 'one mans meat is another's poison' To that end would it not be possible to have optional rules, such that those players craving greater 'realism' around command and control could be catered fo...

Re: Leaders and Magnesia

On the face of it, this seems to be quite a light penalty for units not in command. Given that un-manoeuvrable units don't get the free 45 degree turn anyway, an army that comprises of a high number of such units will not be penalised much for having units out-of-command. I would have thought that s...

Re: FOG2 Developer’s Diary – Innovations and Differences

This is shaping up to what I had hoped the original FoG would have been - and more!

Be interesting to see how the command/leader structure works. Something that was so important historically but which gets scant attention in most games.

Re: Field of Glory II is announced!

This all sounds excellent!

If the gameplay improvements are at the same level as the graphic upgrade, this has all the hallmarks of an absolute classic.

Hopefully we will have access to an early AAR, even if all the features are not yet present.

Cheers

Re: Field of Glory II is announced!

This looks exciting.

I enjoyed FoG but it fell short in many areas, particularly AI.

Is FoG II essentially the P&S system with much better graphics or are there some gameplay enhancements/improvements to look forward to?

Re: New Period(s), New Releases?

P&S and SJ are already 3D... The way that the developer chooses to render their visuals has zero impact on the gameplay. For modern games and expectations, 3D actually reduces the amount of time and effort required to produce a game. Your concerns are unfounded :) Pip Good to hear, Pip and Richard ...

Re: New Period(s), New Releases?

Hmmm ...... I don't know much about the Archon engine, other than that it is in-house 3D. This immediately puts me in mind of Rome Total War; buggy, unhistorical; glitz over gameplay. The graphic style of P&S and SJ is excellent and evocative of the eras portrayed. I'm not sure what 3D is going to b...

Ahh, Romans!

The Carthaginian wars; the Punic wars. Lots of possibilities.

Any possibility of an early 'Christmas' present?

Another clue as to what's next and when; with somewhat less broad-based hints.

Break Point Handicap

This doesn't appear to be working for single play.

Tried altering all the handicap settings in Clastium but the BPs remain at Roman 9 and Gallic 12, irrespective.

The 'game status' consistently shows neutral, again irrespective of which option is selected.

Re: Sovereignty: Crown of Kings streams today on Twitch

Very impressed with what I saw on the twitch stream. The scalable world map is superb and, overall, the artwork for the various units is very immersive. Love the idea of different campaign goals for each faction; should really add to re-playability. The tactical battles looked far more involved than...

Re: Adding colour and immersion.

You may well be right and, to be fair, additional playing of it is revealing just how good a game it really is. However, it seems I am not the only one to think having leaders could be a good idea and this reviewer seems to have good credentials for this era of warfare: http://wargamer.com/article/3...
