Re: Some Questions.

Having played several battles, I am now also convinced that out-of-command units are not disadvantaged enough; as per the discussion in another thread. I have to disagree with you on this point. I'm finding that keeping units in command range can be essential to victory. Are you referring to all un...

Thanks for the feedback. The AI has been developed to play open battles so as you say it wont defend positions at the moment. This is something we'll look at for the future but probably is a little further down the line. Hill tops should be blocking line of fire if you are not near the crest - I ne...

This can be changed by having units start at less than 100% strength if there is a demand for it. I am always in favour of more flexibility for scenario design :D On a side note, it seems that several players(as is myself) are a little taken aback that the # of men dont have as much influence as on...

Some Questions.

Having had the game for a few days now, I have been coming to grips with the rules and have been tickering with the editor as well as playing a few battles. My overall impression is that this is an excellent, easy to learn and play game with a fair amount of hidden depth. However, there appears to b...

Matrix aquires FoG?

Looking at the Matrix site shows FoG as an up-coming game. Presumably they will be handling the physical version, though no dates are given. I would have preferred a physical version but thought that there was no plans for it in the near future.

Scale?

Just purchased FoG; will post some initial impressions in another thread when I've had a closer look.

I can't see any mention of scale which, given it's origins in minis, is a bit surprising. What size, or range of sizes, does a hex represent and how long is a turn?

Thanks Charles - that's good to hear. Well, no more sitting on the fence - during a quiet time next week I shall have to download it.

Two -player only battles?

In another thread I noticed a reference to single -palyer battles, implying that there are some battles that are only two-player. Is that the case and, if so, how many are two-player only? I'm likely to play this solo most of the time and, given that there are not that many battles to start with, if...

We need to be careful of making it too nasty. If a general dies it would cripple your army as a big chunk would be out of C&C and may be realistic but not any fun. Perhaps an optional set of C@C rules for those preferring more realism? For some, realism is fun  Having said that, having a gene...

Perhaps too complex too implement but the abilty to give orders to units out of C&C should be determined by a combination of the experience level and current cohesion of the unit. For example: At one end of the scale, poor units out of C&C cannot be given any orders - if they are disrupted or fragme...

I have been giving serious consideration to purchasing this game and have been reading the posts on this forum with great interest. I'm not normally a fan of download only games but only a few things that I have read have given me pause for thought and one of them is the apparent lack of C&C limitat...
