Yet another new player scratching his head and wondering how the game works.

Can Slitherine really not see the need for a updated manual/help which actually has this rather vital information in it? :x

Personally I think that Slitherine will do something will time allows. At present they are focused on the cash-generating work of delivering new releases and I can't blame them for that. I have to disagree with that sentiment. I have no issue with them making money but not at the expense of being u...

Re-installing FoG, ROR, SOA and IF on Windows 7

Following on from my previous query, having bought a new PC and having read the thread re Morbio's problems could I get confirmation of the re-load order.

Assuming I start by installing FoG 1.01, in what order should I install the applications and the patches?

Cheers

Jim

Re: Just say no ..........................

Leaders can only be killed in combat, not with missile fire. Chris Why should leaders be immune to missile fire - what possible justification is there? In melee combat, a leader is more likely to be 'shielded' by his men but there is not much they can do against missiles. So, if anything, there sho...

Trouble is it won't let me uninstall. The message is : 'Invalid uninstall control file:c:\Program files\Slitherine\Field of Glory\uninstall\uninstall.xml' The Exe. file was showing 1.2.9 but both that and the 1.2.8 that I overwrote it with give the same 'corrupt' message. Interestingly, another vers...

Now I'm well and truly buggered! My Main PC is still down so I thought I would update the copy I have on my wifes' laptop(XP). That had FoG, RoR and SoA up to ver 1.2.8. I tried to install IF but there was a message saying that it didn't have 1.2.8 but it could auto update to that, then install IF. ...

Re-installing FoG, ROR, SOA and IF on vista.

Following a hard drive failure :x I need to reinstall all of the above. I believe I have backed up all of the installation files and patches so would just like to know what is the optimal sequence for doing so. I just hope I can find all of the product codes, as I have just thought of that. Thanks i...

And again! - another mounted leader charges through his own ranks in an anarchy charge. This seems to be becoming monotonously commonplace for me now. I can accept anarchy for non-leader BGs, on an occasional basis, but as a regular event for leader-led BGs, it just seems plain wrong. In effect, I m...

In a very recent LOEG battle I had a superior, although undrilled, Cataphract Field commander anarchy charge through his own medium foot, to attack, I think, an enemy light foot BG. Naturally it disrupted the MF and put itself completely out of position. Probably not the reason I lost the game but i...

To add insult to injury I can't even get rid of it by 'claiming' it. It says that I am not in the game so can't claim it - error 26 (if I remember correctly)

Longest game ever??

Just had a game appear out of no-where, under 'opponents turn', which purports to be a Silarus River battle against the (Romans), last turn dated 31- DEC- 1969

The questions raised in this thread, as well as those in other recent threads about drilled units, scrub etc etc. would be unnecessary if the 'Rules' i.e the so-called Help file, was brought up to date. As it stands, it is IMO, a disgrace. I really do not know how new players get to grips with the g...

Re: Interesting statistic

Is the game (points system or combat results) unfairly favouring quantity over quality? I don't know enough about the points system to comment but I feel that the combat results - or the mechanisms that produce them - definately do. Given the almost bizarre range of combat results that can be obtai...

Re: Interesting statistic

So far in the League of Gentlemen tournement there have been 35 games completed. Of these 35 games, 32 have been won by the player with the largest (AP) force!! Is the game (points system or combat results) unfairly favouring quantity over quality? You should check how big the discrepancy in APs be...

And one thing that has really started to bug me: when one of my BGs charges an enemy BG, and suffers a major loss. I then have a second BG charge the same enemy BG, and suffer an even bigger loss! Finally, I have a third BG charge the same unit--on a flank nonetheless--and take another major loss.....

Personally, I don't hold with the 'luck averages out over time' mantra unless you have a very large number of occurences. Even in a largish game I doubt if there are more than 20 clashes per turn, on average, and with most games no more than 15 turns. Thats 300 clashes, which would not be anywhere n...

Welcome, CheerfullyInsane. Your story sounds very much like mine and many other FoG players. I was a Combat Mission fan from the beginning, ten years ago , and to some extent still am. Started with FoG last November and have been playing little else since then. MP is what really makes it. Apart from...
