In effect you already have that  Yes in effect we have it, but without actually having different pass marks. I submit that this is the better option. Your mileage may differ. However, these factors have been very carefully balanced over 18 months of play-testing. They have the effect we in...

Having a +1 if you don't suffer 1HP3B and needing 8 to pass would work but it moves the probability dynamic slightly. More than slightly. It would make a huge difference, for example, to the dynamic for impact foot/swordsmen vs steady pikes/spears when contact is only made on 1 base frontage. We wo...

Not too many, but they certainly do occur.

Just to finish this off. We all seem agreed that this is effectively a 4 dice each frontal contact. How do we think the mounted confrom for melee? I note that the left hand base is over half way across the contacted foot. Does this mean that when they wheel to conform it slides across to contact th...

Impact. Yes
What would happen if 3rd rank was impact foot
I don't understand the significance of this question.

I phrased y question badly , the second knight contacts the side edge with his front corner and is part of the same BG :-), the KN BG coming not from the front, stricly speaking, but partially from the side . Everyboy agrees there is no flank contact . well you can imagine the situation . Would the...

On the French speaking forum, there is an interesting question see topic http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4668 for those who understand french . I post this topic to help us understand what to do in such case because there is no concensus and it might come from the wording of the rul...

thanks rbs :D I assume the spanish are MF on 40 by 20mm bases. Can they be HF on 40by15? thanks regards michael Iberians and Lusitanians are MF. Celtiberians are HF. The ones in the optional section of the Roman army would be MF Iberians. A full Spanish ally contingent could be Celtiberians IIRC (n...

Re: sample pages

Hi All The product looks very good from the sample pages you have provided hope it plays well Just a couple of questions regarding the Trebia OB from the sample pages. I am painting up a roman army for FOG and am using the Trebia OB. How are the latin allies represented? Are they 3 or 4 to a base a...

Re: Terrain and Visibility

When it says that "in some cases light foot can see out but not be seen", wouldn't this also apply to other types of troop as well, e.g. any troops not more than 4MUs within a plantation or 2 MUs within a forest or village? Possible, but if the rules don't say so..... It also says that "terrain blo...

And finally, does impassable terrain like extremely steep hills block line of sight? You really need an official response from the authors but I play it that the placing player defines the feature. So if its impassable because it's a lake - it doesn't block LOS. If it's an extremely steep hill then...

Re: A few short questions arising from a game today

However, I do anticipate that having one pursuer cut off another will be a fairly common tactic if it is legal. Conceivably but 1) There isnt that much scope for moving the first BG in mysterious ways to achieve it - As umpire I would force the first BG moved to take the shortest route. (The shorte...

Re: A few short questions arising from a game today

Possible responses to a charge: 1. Just to confirm that skirmishers who are charged while in combat have the option to evade (and in fact must pass a CMT to not evade if the chargers are non-skirmishers etc). They can't unless they were only fighting as an overlap. 2. If skirmishers can and do evad...

OK. I hear many people ( on french speaking forums ) complaining about the unstoppable knights :D It is not as much about their strenght, but more about the feeble difference of price of units for efficacity . More things need to be taken into account than the troops' ability in close combat. We ar...

Early in the development process this issue was raised: That a prolonged skimisher melee could delay the clash of the battle lines. However, we came to the conclusion that the answer was in the hands of the player with the better heavy infantry, who wanted to get them stuck in. If he does not want t...

Yup.

We could have made the rules more complex to make the game less skillful but we decided not to.

It seems that the magic teleport move is back! I should perh...

Not specified as all/none, therefore optional.
