Re: Using Artillery and Subs
I confess I don't know for sure, but I always assumed it was to let you know Destroyers in that radius will detect you with Sonar.

Re: Erik's campaigns
So uhhh....Poznan is kicking my ass :o I've played the PC GC many, many times, and while I'm still not as experienced with OOB, I didn't think I'd be running straight into a wall. The key difference seems to be your initial forces and the strength of the Polish air force. In PC you could swat it awa...

Re: Using Artillery and Subs
The Gabe Mod on the first page of the scenario design subforum makes some slight tweaks to many unit stats...and an enormous buff for subs, which might say something about their state.

Re: Using Artillery and Subs
I don't know exactly how efficiency calculations is done, but I'd be willing to bet each point lost is worth more than the one before it. So going from 5 > 4 is twice the loss that 10 > 9 is. This would explain why I felt artillery was useless when I started playing. I came in with a Panzer Corps mi...

Re: Tank attack range?
Interesting that artillery will be able to return fire now. That was always a frustration I had playing Civil War Generals 2, that if you focus your cannons on an enemy battery, they would somehow find the time amidst the barrage to counter-battery 5+ times and still get to fire during their own tur...

Re: Best feature from the twitch stream?
Right, that's what I thought "Simultaneous Movement" meant...it's just such a huge feature, I figured it would have been talked about more. Amazing that it's being included as an option. I've felt that simultaneous turns were the future for turn-based strategy games for a while now, really...

Re: Best feature from the twitch stream?
Could you clarify what you mean by simultaneous movement? I caught most of the stream, but I don't recall any info on that.

Re: How to deal with exponential player growth? (soft cap, etc)
I like to play Panzer Corps with a set of house rules, including deployment costs. I can deploy as many units as I want...if I can afford it. Cheap units maintain their usefulness without being throw-away cannon fodder. This has the benefit of essentially being a 'wager' that I can place before a sc...

Re: Suggestions, wishlist and ideas for Panzer Corps 2 gamep
I think for "facing" a simple idea would be to tweak the Mass Attack values. If the supporting unit is adjacent to the attacking unit, the current -1. If it's to the flank of the enemy unit, -2. If it's directly to the rear of the attack, -3.

Re: Suggestions, wishlist and ideas for Panzer Corps 2 gamep
A house rule I've been playing with in my latest grand campaign is deployment costs. I didn't like how cheap units aren't worth their core slot as the campaign progresses, so I came up with this to help keep infantry the mainstay of my forces. 1. Unlimited core slots 2. To deploy a unit in a scenari...

Re: Lost Units
Well all the SSVT units active in Poland were infantry, artillery, or recon. If you want them to have some special armoured units, maybe move the availability of the Panzer III E up by a few months? They didn't go into production until October, but hey this is all alternate history after all.

Re: I am quite pesimistic about this game...
I was initially skeptical for a lot of the reasons already mentioned. 3D is not inherently better, nor really that important in the scope of things. But I found myself in a strange place recently, called JPs Panzers Wargame & History Forums. There I was reading about some of the history of the P...

Re: Poll: How much RAM does your computer have?
4gb DDR2 @ 400mhz! Only 10 years old!
Hopefully upgrading this summer, when it would be 16gb DDR 4 @ 3200mhz. Just a slight upgrade.

Re: Test: New movement cost and types
Many thanks! Look forward to testing it. Though I've noticed the movement file isn't refreshed on starting a new campaign scenario like the equipment file is. Oh well. I think the 251/1 has found a sweet spot here, since I normally never considered it an option. But with the Opel Blitz, infantry tha...

Re: Test: New movement cost and types
I think I'll try 2 movement for lighter guns, that will certainly give them a niche next to the larger calibers.
Another issue with countryside: towed guns have -50% movement, which means that with only 1 movement they can cross 2 countryside tiles.

Re: Test: New movement cost and types
I read your post about movement in the PzC II forums and had to try this out for myself. So far I'm enjoying it quite a bit, especially the importance of roads and planes having to consider the path to their target to avoid mountains. Just wanted to be sure though, none of the new move types do anyt...

Re: How to change ballistic data?
Having to resurrect this thread because when I alter and then save the 'equipment' file the program fails at the start of any game. I tried an 'Amulet Mod' but that doesn't seem to work with the latest patch (I've just got back to Panzer Corps after a long while out in business). Be very mindful of...

Messina
So having no Italian units I'd resigned myself to a MV. However after a few turns and startlingly small resistance, especially in the north, I began pushing forward. I manage to take the US airbase, when suddenly...at least a dozen units spawn all around my task force and annihilate it from all side...

Re: please help! question about the game system
I believe if a fixed turret attacks a rotating turret, they suffer a -3 to Initiative. This is to encourage the use of tank destroyers as defensive units, or on the offensive against suppressed targets or with mass attack support. But at a ~3km+ range of late game tank destroyers I find it hard to b...
