Re: Tournament Diary and News . . .

This is shaping up to be the best season ever. Many new players and the return of of many top ones. The divisions look as competitive as they ever have. Cant wait to see who will reign supreme in classic A. A great mix of lists choices in all divisions that has been influence perhaps by the debates ...

Re: Ballads of the surprising and unexpected

Its the commitment to do 2-3 turn marches and then spring an ambush that I find most impressive because it takes patience and vision to pull that off well. Most static ambushes are predicable especially if the mistake of including a general in the ambush force is made. But mobile ambushes where the ...

Ballads of the surprising and unexpected

So I was blown away by a unit placement an opponent of mine made recently. I watched his turn twice I was so surprised. Its a pike on pike battle and my opponent place two of his veteran pike units at the base of a marsh in the position #1 shown. Never would I have expected expensive pike units to b...

Re: SnuggleBunny's FoGII, Pike n Shot, Sengoku MP Channel

ugg, I dont mind never winning vs. a brit, I mean that accent raises their IQ about 20 points, but a fellow yank, the shame. I should do a video series just of my games vs top "A" players....it would be a combination of Larry David and Mel Brooks and they would all start with "oh shit...

Re: Spam Armies

RBS and Pete were debating something in another thread that is relevant here. To paraphrase, RBS said mirror match capability ends debate on balance and I agree. Both players play both sides on the same map a.k.a the Slitherine open tournament. I appreciate and eagerly play in the Digital League Tou...

Re: Spam Armies

The other thing going on is Lundendorf is a master with the Hannibal List. I have been doing some research for contributions I made to some different threads on the topic of "spam" or lists made of cheap units and I was reminded that he won a classic division in the digital league with the...

Re: KO Tournament: winners post your results here . . .

Round 4 Macedonczyk (Arab Conquest 638-684 AD) defeats Nyczar (Scots-Irish 50 BC-476 AD) 43:13 Hard game where terrain was good for Arab (no rough terrain in centre and hill + forest on wings which limit possibility of flank attack by chariots). Scots has made some gambit attack uphill with medium ...

Re: Medium Foot Rebalance Discussion

I may have to break out my limited excel skills to pursue the segmentation analysis i have in mind. I have a bit of an itch now to know. A good quarantine actively when I need a distraction from work. i for one would love to see this analysis There is a related debate on the subject on medium infan...

Re: Romano-British and Soissons (was Latest FOG2DL army stats )

Of the 48 lists that earned a medal in any of the the seven Late Antiquity seasons (across all skill divisions), only 25% were played at both the high skill/experience levels (A/B) and the lower skill levels of (C/D/E). In looking at these select lists, some things immediately strike me (although in...

Re: Romano-British and Soissons (was Latest FOG2DL army stats )

Hard to resist a chance to share some data and maybe spark some insight. My hypothesis (from a different thread) was that the "dominance" of lists made up of of less trained and less well armored troops (cheaper) fades as the skill level of the enemy general increases To explore this, I re...

Re: Romano-British and Soissons (was Latest FOG2DL army stats )

Wow, I am fried digesting this in one read. Just an FYI. As you may be aware from the thread on Medium infantry, I said I would look at segmenting the data by skill level. I am through season 4 so far (Don't ask me for a synthesis yet) but I will finish compiling Late Antiquity only through season 7...
