Re: Legion Arena walkthrough

They easily have enough punch for the first half of the campaign, or a bit longer; that is the strategy I use on GBOR when Auxilia are not available until very late. (I have reached 1,144,620 in Legion Arena, and 1,137,xxx in GBOR; of course I both use pincushions shamelessly and as decoys; and re-...

Re: Legion Arena walkthrough

Hi Aleksandr, A thought for your campaigns: start with two Scouts instead of one Auxilia. While your auxilia will get almost no experience during the first few battles, the scouts can rapidly be raised to level 5 or 6, becoming useful until very late in the campaign. Pieter I've already thought of ...

Re: Legion Arena completed without a single battle lost

I've made it through Messana, but I'm a little bit fed up with the campaign, namely because I can't use the army that I'd like to, and also because I bleed fame like there's no tomorrow. I'm not sure what to do. I may finish the cam, but it's too painful.

Re: Legion Arena completed without a single battle lost

I won't annoy you with a complete and battle-by-battle AARs, most of the battles are fairly easy and/or unimportant. I'll stop just at the important or tricky scenarios, and I'll also share some ideas, etc. Imho it'll be enough if I'll post some news after each minicampaign only... THE FIRST TRY: 1)...

Legion Arena completed without a single battle lost

As you might noticed, I'm a quite crazy when it comes to Legion Arena. After finishing the campaigns for lots of times with lots of different cores and lots of different tactics/compositions/skills, I decided that I really MUST achieve one last goal - make it through the whole campaign without a sin...

Re: End of Game Army Composition

If I should name one really annoying scenario, than Lingering Gauls would surely win the price.

Re: End of Game Army Composition

Messana... And I'm seriously pissed, because it was after the time limit and I needed just nine more suckers, but before the Archers shot the salvo, Legate had died. EDIT: Another one bites the dust! NOT QUITE AUXILIA http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff388/aleksandr4/Screenshot-137.jpg (Very Hard...

Re: End of Game Army Composition

I've tried another all-light composition and was at Lautulae, but restarded the whole thing because of several reasons. a) I really wish to make a "no-loss" run. b) I've realized a very strange thing. Although it is nice how the light squads' healing cost nearly nothing, there could be far...

Re: End of Game Army Composition

Hi Possum, I just saw a classic example of what I described above. Playing Ausculum, i had maneuvred some of my velites north of Phyrrus's heavy infantry, on the rough-terrain ridge, when time ran out. As the heavies routed throught the velites, a handful of horseshoes popped out. The velites had o...

Re: Britannicus, a Legion Arena Mod

Sad... Part of the problem is that LA is so old and the community is made of me, you, pgeerkens and Iain, whom we've had pulled in. :-D But otoh, once I'll find a strength and time to mod, I'll definitely perpetrate something. It's just like my Panzer General campaigns - I'll do them even there won...

Re: Legion Arena walkthrough

Caeser's Gallic War (the thirteenth minicampaign): Do I count it right? Nevermind... Battle of Bibracte is a perfect opportunity for a massive experience hunt. The enemy is totally static and his units are weak, so lets make this a turkey shooting. After all, our Archers need some levels. Therefore...

Re: Legion Arena walkthrough

They say that one picture is worthy a thousand words, so: http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff388/aleksandr4/Screenshot-77_10th_cam.jpg I must admit that although nearly everything goes fine, one thing wasn't (and won't be) accomplished - this won't be a "no-loss" run. I already lost som...

Re: Scenario Editing

Aleksandr, I looked at this issue a long time ago, and decided that using an existing scenario structure was the course of least resistance. IIRC the maplocks are ugly. I don't suggest messing with any of the three .txt files in the DB directory. You''re right, 40 scenarios is a lot. I took them in...

Re: Britannicus, a Legion Arena Mod

Ah, thank you, thank you. They're going to hate us for all this necro :) I don't think so... :P After all, it's better if my reaction is not only in the "Finla Composition" thread, but also here, where it belongs to. Btw, years ago you've started a Carthago mod, didn't ya? What's the resu...
