The Landsknechts are problematic. Personally I think allowing them integral shoot (and probably Tercio formations) would be ok (if not mandatory) from 1560 onwards at least. However those in Danish service are essentially the same as those found in the Spanish Netherlands (i.e. in the Early Imperial...

Re: Kalmar Union queries for Karsten

Yes the *0-6 for the fully armoured Gendarmes should be *4-6. Basically if there were German Gendarmes, they were brought by the Counts of Holstein, etc. who then pretty invariably would also field their well equipped retinue. Swedish Rebel allies... Hmmm, yes, messy wording. An ally should be allow...

Regarding the armour, yes, seems ok. I've missed that.
As for the Welsche Garde... Not sure, I don't know of any mentioning of them dismounting. It's likely they would have done so if the situation demanded it as they were rather renowned for their discipline.

No, it should only apply to the "Germans".

Not completely sure to be honest. I think it should include the Arquebusiers though.

You might be able to do this with 16 players but what happens if you have 50 players such as the challange or Britcon do you divide them by the scenarios but then it becames a small tournement inside a big one? I didn't say it's a suitable formate for very large competitions (although in theory it ...

1. Mongols would do it or any other Steppe army, thats what they do move up move away while killing you. I would classify that type of fighting as light horse. And those would not drop any cohesion level. Which is where we get to the point again that the distinction between LH and CV is mostly arti...

The only way to do such scenarios and make it a tournament is to provide set scenarios that the players 'rotate' though. I.e. you have say 8 different scenarios (so 16 players) and each player plays 4 of them. It is then not important how exactly he did, but how he did in comparison to the other 3 p...

Re: Geometry question

@Peter: Afraid your German sounds pretty Italian to me. :? Perhaps its a Freudian slip, or an undergarment, which in itself may be a freuduian slip. :? Schlüpfen is not "to slip"? :) sounds very onomatopeico Depends, prime meaning of 'schlüpfen' is 'to hatch' (i.e. from an egg). It can be...

It's the most official statement we have, isn't it? No. It's not at all official. It isn't official until the three authors agree and publish it in the FAQ. It's daft to accept a musing from one author, who may not have the rules with him, on one thread on one forum as holy writ. In a recent game w...

>If I wheel first, then shift, there's no gap but the triarii are further forward than the hastati. So that's side edge to side edge with enemy in combat with your friends to their front...which counts as an overlap. Possibly a part wheel. then the shift, then a further wheel would enable you to ge...

Depends what you call the Frankfurt area. I live in Giessen, which is roughly 60km North of Frankfurt. There are at least 3 FoG players I know of in or very close to Frankfurt though (actually I know there are some more in the area who play FoG at least occasionally but I don't know them personally)...

Actually the efficiency was fine, the organisation on combined cycling-/walkways sucks though.

Nice. Is there a source with a list like this for Frederick II at Castelnuova? Castel Nuova was build after Friedrichs death. Maybe you had the Battle of Cortenuova (27 November 1237) in mind? If so, afraid not. :( The best we have are probably the notes from Pietro della Vigna (unless there is som...

Re: Geometry question

Is it permissible for a rear corner of a moving battlegroup to briefly interpenetrate a friendly battlegroup? Yes is the simple answer, there was a thread on it somewhere in the distant past. Here: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=72908&sid=8c60c8b85bfc4ae2d48fdfe6a410639f#72908 ...

No, obviously that wasn't intended. It's a side effect of me building the new page in German first and testing it for a few days on the German site. Given the scope of the changes it was far easier to redo the translation then to try and modify the English page. Seems I missed changing some the link...
