Re: Light chariots! oh the pain.
thank you for the detailed response - it makes a lot of sense - i am playing a very cagey game at the moment as ancient Britons against Romans - my chariots so far are skirting round the edges of the all round defence the roman player has put out but so far have come off worse against the roman cava...

Light chariots! oh the pain.
please someone help me with light chariots - i have never used them before, i have just about got to grips with the mechanics of actual cavalry, But i cant see who light chariots are effective against. I was thinking they should be employed as sort of skirmisher - bouncing off units when they charge...

Re: Charging broken units
I am perfectly happy with the present system, though it would be nice if, when you attacked a routing unit with non raw or warband infantry, your unit occupied the square, maintaining facing, instead of stopping short. Just my opinion though, and no big deal either way. I support this point. Recent...

Re: Open letter to all those who play or who may play in a public Slitherine tournament
Perhaps if there was a mechanism whereby the player who was victorious due to a surrender before the 40-15 score line , received a greatly enhanced bonus points award going forward - this would be acknowledgement that their play was deemed so awesome that their opponent felt they had to no choice bu...

Re: bowman post patch just fodder now?
thats great info Ludendorf thanks - i will bear that in mind for the future.
With regards Hydaspes , maybe the scenario does need tweaking , since all the bowman are lined up on open ground.

bowman post patch just fodder now?
I am playing a mirror battle of Hydaspes against an opponent , and we both have noted just how easily the Macedonians slice through Porus's army - this is very different to playing hydaspes pre patch when they put up much sterner resistance, and as they did historically. I get the reasoning for maki...

Re: get out of square
Dont know what i am missing here - but i have a unit in pike square and there is no option for it to leave - i can rotate , i can move one square in one direction , but no option to leave - does it matter if i am in base to base contact with another enemy unit ( tho not in actual combat)?

Re: Aggressors - Units infographics part I
thees units look more fantasy than anything else - especially the barbarians -' Axemasters', really?. If you are going to make it a historical game , try to keep it as realistic as you can, there is plenty of research out there to tell you how these units were equipped and functioned. Your numidians...

I have both expansions yet i cannot find any updated manual that might give information about the capabilities of any new units - eg late roman infantry, achemenids etc. Is there such a thing? and if so where might i download it? thanks in advance.

Re: Elephants: A missed oppertunity?
They do kind of set off a morale bomb in your ranks when they rout. But this does sound a lot cooler. Yep let the opponent test too. Let's see some primary sources which mention troops being disrupted/routed by out of control enemy elephants. All of the ones I can think of, it is their own side tha...

Re: Elephants: A missed oppertunity?
That was the general idea - however there are a number of recorded incidences when rampaging elephants caused havoc to their own sides eg at the battle of Thapsus.jomni wrote:Wouldn't the mahouts stab the elephants in the skull once they get uncontrollable?

Elephants: A missed oppertunity?
As the title suggests, I have played with and against elephants quite a few times now and on the whole i like the way they have been modeled. Elephant units display a good balance between crushing uberpower and brittleness that makes them such a gamble and fun play. My only disappointment is that wh...
