I wish I could answer this question. I think if the scenario is not designed with them in mind, these units are mostly useless, or only good for lightly harassing enemy units. Unfortunately, I have yet to encounter a campaign map where they could really shine. Didn't play all the DLCs though!

Honnestly there are now 2 "big" operational-level games with beer-and-pretzels gameplay and I just find it so surprising and enjoyable that we're at that point, despite strategy games being somewhat niche. Maybe in five years there'll be 3 or 4 and there will be even more threads like this...

That should do the trick for most people, I think. But 8g memory at the *minimum* is starting to be harder. 8g memory is, I would say, slightly above average for people not used to play very demanding games.

If I'm not mistaken PzC1 also has dynamic/unscripted AI. Make up a quick random scenario with two opposing sides, without any scripting whatsoever, and the AI will make moves. Of course for more elaborate scenarios scripting is also available.

If the team will learn from the last 3d War-gaming games released in teh last let's say 2 years I don't know of many 3D operational-level strategy games released in the last two years though. Strategic Mind and Panzer Strategy come to mind, but apart from that, I don't see any "big" games...
