I would add 3 important missing things in the animation:
1-an animation when the paratroopers jump open the parachute.
2-animation when sinking the boats (Sinking little by little into the sea).
3-Another animation when the boats and submarines that fire torpedoes, also for torpedo planes and also rockets of attack Air ground.
4-Spanish translation of the game or have access to modify languages.
5-For the rest I see it impressive, great future to this game and its expansions...

Yes I saw it , it would be available for early access in steam this January , it seems that Panzer Corps 2 has a contender in a more advanced development phase.

Any idea if it`s going to be sold exclusively on steam or not?

I`m not sure what to make of this game. Oddly, it is supposed to be based on the same Unreal engine that PzC 2 was announced for. If Panzer Strategy and PzC 2 are entirely different projects they`ll be bumping elbows. On the other hand I suppose this would explain the prematurity of the PzC 2 announcement. I.e. why we`re posting here in a sub-forum for a PzC 2 that was announced 9 months ago and has still showed nothing at all.

Not much to be found on the Panzer Strategy site though. I couldn`t find a complete list of factions to be included for the first release or a campaign tree. On the other hand, they`ve done a rather curious comparison to PzC and OoB.

It claims PzC has invented "the non-linear script- an access to the following missions depends on the issue of a battle", but in fact this was exactly as it was in PG. If anything, the original PzC campaign has brought less options than PG (no Sea Lion Plus, no Africa, no Crete etc.). It also claims that "Order of Battle differs graphically from Panzer General and Panzer Corps only a little; the same two- dimensional picture with the minimum of details." OoB is actually a 3d game unless I`m missing something... It then says that in Panzer Strategy "absolutely all the missions in the game are based on the realistic maps of military actions", but further one it reads that "some hypothetical operations, for example the Operation “Sea Lion”, will be accessible". Anyway, I guess I`ll have to wait for the release to better see where the game places itself in terms of so called "realism" and gameplay complexity. I`m hoping it won`t be more complicated than OoB (and preferably for me less than that). Also, I hope those contours for the units are optional (along with the hex borders). In my opinion they`re too pronounced and disrupt the 3d graphics (before I saw the movie I was under the impression the graphics are sprites because of these). That aside, the graphics do look good. Definitely something to watch for.

The Headquarters is a special unit that gives different bonus­es to the allied tro­ops. Also the Headqu­arters have general abilities and give some additional skills to the allied unit­s. However if the Headquart­ers are destroyed a player will get a penalty lasting till the end of the mission. Al­so the Headquarters can be captured.
The Headquarters rec­eive experience for victory. Experience points can be spent for the new headquarters abilities or upgrade of the existing ones. So the gameplay is pretty flexible here

This looks really ugly. There may be ways in doing a decent wargame in 3D, but this is not it.

From what I understand what you`re looking at above is a pre-alpha stage of the game so things may change. I certainly hope that the 2d markers (such as unit strength, losses, hex borders and contours) will be improved as they look very basic and unattractive atm. I think the fact that they went with these rather dark and desaturated colours for the units makes it harder to spot your units among all the terrain`s 3d clutter and distinguish them from the enemy than would otherwise be the case (hence the need for those uninspiring contours).

Overall, I think the problem with taking board games into the wold of Unreal is that, in order to keep things manageable, textures and models need to be kept towards the lower end of details and in combination with the 3d shooter perspective it gives the impression that you`re looking at one of those mid 90`s tank simulators. I.e. they feel like poor graphics for simulators when they`re actually high graphics for turn based hex maps strategy games.

Still, I`m ok with how it looks. Certainly the unit graphics are pretty detailed in the historical way (real camouflage for the aircraft for example). In the end, what will matter more to me is how powerful of a computer it needs and if the game has some diversity in its content. I`m beyond bored of games that can`t get beyond Germany, US, UK and Soviet Union.

Personally, I don't care for this look at all. Would also recommend this thread get cut into it's own topic, because AFAIK it really has nothing to do with PC2. I certainly HOPE it doesn't, because if PC2 looks like this it is doomed. DOOMED I say! :shock: :lol:

These are zoomed-in examples, just to show the models up close. You wouldn't play the game at such a zoom level. Just look at Order of Battle and see how a well-made 3D hex game looks like ;)

very impressive! it is a real pleasure to see that wargames could be like that. Maybe at last, i will convince some friends to play this kind of game.

I give you the reason it is improving a lot the wargames, there are better computers but it needed to get more shine to this type of games

Map creation is a time-consuming process because maps in Panzer Strategy can be as big as 3000 hexagons.
a map made of hexagons whose colors represent certain types of terrain. Different objects, units, roads are also indicated on separate layers

Can't tell much about the mechanics of the game, but for me the graphics are a huge turn-off. I watched the video of gameplay, and for me it demonstrates all the reasons strategy games shouldn't be forced into 3D. The perspective really gets in the way of having a clear overview of the map, especially when it's zoomed in too close but even at far-out zoom levels as well. For me, it's just jarring to have a tactical-feeling map and graphics, when you're playing an operational or strategic-level game.

The neon hex outlines and neon shading on move areas further gets in the way - it just looks garish and unpleasant. Those kinds of colours might work for a future space-battle sort of game, but they don't fit the period. The animations are too slow, and the process of scrolling around, selecting units etc. looks to be cumbersome.

I can't see purchasing this one, no matter how refined the mechanics.

The more I look at new wargames coming out, the more I appreciate the elegant minimalism, the sheer perfect presentation, of Unity of Command, and of Shenandoah's series before they went bust.
