When do you hope to publish the runners and riders.
I'm waiting for an update to one list. I will hopefully publish the R&R on Wednesday unless I'm sent to Scotland for work in which case it would be the weekend.

An intreresting selection and not the plethora of Swiss and Japanese that was predicted.

It will be interesting to see how those Hungarians do against the Japanese and Kiels.

Nik and I can have a classic fight in which will the Irish beat the English!!!

Looks like an interesting mix of armies, to this neutral observer. I guess you must have replaced your Tudors, Nik, since I bought a whole Tudor (and other bits) army from you years back, and they have done sterling service since as various late 15th century western europeans. :D

I for one predict that Bob won't be glued to bottom table but we have made arrangements for you, Bob, to always be at the same table for the weekend.

While I'm here, a quick word about parking at the venue. I gather that they have a new parking contractor, recently appointed. The machines haven't been working, but rumour is that they're being fixed this week (disappointingly!) Do make sure that you pay for your parking, as otherwise you're likely to get slapped with a £60/£100 penalty charge.

Check-in on Saturday is 8.30-9.15 and we aim to get started by 9.30am (earlier if everyone is there). Games start on Sunday at 9.00am. Nik has very kindly agreed to be your umpire for the weekend, so please be very nice to him. Dave Mather will be Chief Umpire, running the DBMM, doing the scores and the draws and keeping time for all the FOGR/FOG AM/DBMM/MEG comps as they're all running to the same schedule. I, for once, will be playing  - not sure quite what yet, depends on final numbers in the various themes.

See you there.

It will be interesting to see if Simon really has 24 BG's as I have tried to make a list up with that number and even using all the crap troops I only get to 22 BG's. I know that there is a quality in quantity but how does he do it - I do not know.

So who is going to come 1, 2 and 3. My prediction is:-
1 Keith
2 Ray or Andy
3 Lynette

Looks like you can pay through RingGo at the car park.

Yes, Reading are pretty fascistic when it comes to fining motorists - I'm currently fighting two penalties for driving in a bus lane in the town centre at 06:30 on a Sunday morning. In one case, you can clearly see that I'm avoiding a taxi driving down the middle of the road in the opposite direction and enter the bus lane just feet (less than a car length) before it ends; also, just after the bus lane ends, the road narrows considerably and the camera is positioned for no other purpose (as far as I can see) than to catch people anticipating the road narrowing and moving across a bit early. In the other, you can see that I've just turned right out of a side road and had to cross the bus lane in order to do so; also the bus lane isn't marked as such in any way that is visible to a motorist coming from my direction.

Oh, and read the small print if you do get a penalty notice - these legalised muggers like to hide the fact that you can save 50% by paying within 14 days about 2/3 of the way down the page.

Big thank you to the WAR organising Committee for a very enjoyable competition. I would also like to thank my 4 opponents for very enjoyable games - Keith, Simon, Andy and Lynnette.

I was nearly right in my prediction as the result was: -
1st Keith
2nd Lynnette
and 3rd Andy

Having been in first place on Saturday night I ended in joint 4th place with Ray.

Did you kill any more generals?

IIRC Bob killed 7 over his 4 games 8)

Keith lost all of his again in the last game, but still came out ahead in it and won the comp. So he lost all his generals in 2 games over the weekend

So lots of promotions in the Swiss army, then.

(Good to meet you on Saturday, btw Nik - and good to see another Early Henrician army on the table. As I've said before, you seldom lose horribly (unless the dice go very bad on you), but it's very difficult to get anything more than a narrow win because of the time it takes either you or your opponent to get all that infantry across the table.)

A very enjoyable weekend. This was despite losing all five of my newly painted Milanese average gendarme units on their first outing!
Thanks to my opponents Simon, Bruce, Dave & Chris for nice games and to Nick for stepping in as umpire.
