Me (Romans) 31/45 v. Hidde (Bosporans) 51/49.
I won initiative.
I reported the score, but the spreadsheet appears to have a formula error so Hidde's score against me is listed as his score against Eric.

I've seen several players do that mistake. Look at this picture:I reported the score, but the spreadsheet appears to have a formula error so Hidde's score against me is listed as his score against Eric.
Just remember to fill in the the numbers on each side of the empty space and it will be right.

Just to prove I can play quickly......when I'm winning!
davouthojo (Abbasid) 20/46 vs 49/49 (Crusader) ericdoman1
Another of my rare victories vs Eric.....I won initiative, and managed to hold most of Eric's knights, both mounted and dismounted behind a river, while the Dailami charged through through the gullies and, with the help of a few lancer charges, dispatched the defending and crossbowmen on Eric's right.

Well still haven't learnt my lesson. Attack an impregnable position, to make a game of it which resulted in me being slaughtered.
As with some other games, I could have sat back and got a draw as I doubt my opponents would wish to fight.
And the new nickname for Chris is Mr Speed LOL

First Result
Hello,
JocaRamiro - solly
Catalan company - Free Company
Score 29 (catalans) - 44
Initiative: Catalan Company
We tried to use the choice of terrain to choose one where the party moving second had a chance to secure an advantageous hilly position. The plan: seize the mountain spur with our center, sweep around the flat on our left, fall back with a screening force on our right.
The foot was able to reach the slope in time. Our left made progress. Even though the heavy foe was valient, fighting uphill was just too much.

Another Struggle
Joca Ramiro (Catalan Company) - Scipio Asinus (Later Scots & Highlanders)
Initiative Catalan Company
Outcome JR/CC 36/40 - SA/LS&H 53/50
I figured the Scots would bring their heavy heavies. The terrain choices included a number with hills just a bit closer to them - as usual since they move first. So, I chose an open field with woods on the left. Plan: push through in the woods where my medium guys could reign supreme while holding or giving ground on the left center. The cavalry went on the right to push or run as seemed indicator.
A surprise was a Scots mix of medium and heavy, which lead to much slower progress in the woods then I expected. Things started off bloody. The Scots charged all down the line and the initial charge really hurt. As the day wore on we managed to both gradually push forward in the woods and hold in the center. Also, while the Scots started strong, their units seemed a bit brittle when faced with the intrepid Catalans. Victory was very welcome, and in doubt until very late.

Re: The Temporary League - Communiques and Results - Dark Ag
A dilemma I see somewhat often in competition play. I wonder if making a draw count for a loss for both players might be an idea... (if less than say 25% of one/both armies are lost?)ericdoman1 wrote:Attack an impregnable position, to make a game of it which resulted in me being slaughtered.
This might encourage players to go for it, as 'attacking an impregnable position' and failing would garner the same points as sitting around admiring the landscape - although admittedly you might provide points to your opponent.

Re: The Temporary League - Communiques and Results - Dark Ag
Hi A
For this league the scoring system will prob remain the seem for the foreseeable future.
When pantherboy was playing, he accepted 2 draws vs me. I had chosen the map that made it possible BUT all I needed was a draw to win the division!
Also players may well have in mind a draw before the game even starts. Sometimes it is for fear of being beaten and maybe beaten badly, also a draw vs X may give them a chance to win the division and or be promoted/not relegated.
Draws are rare occurences, however in a number of my games at present we could well have agreed upon a draw. It has proven to me that having predominantly hf armies is not a good thing, especially when your opponent wins initiative and makes the game very difficult for me due to choice of map.
I doubt if I will win any division this time around but as long as I don't get relegated that will be OK, NOT LOL. If I did I may have to sack myself LOEL.
