Re: Beta Dieppe Tournament V1.1
I'm revoking the "Commandos must be on destroyers" rule. It will just give the Germans more of a chance to aim for destroyers and a harder time for the Allies without spec ops support.

Update: peterjfrigate and bfume are progressing well with peterjfrigate as Allies. We're restarting our other scenario [with bfume as Allies] on the new version since I was getting my arse handed to me.

Didn't dot.comCTO suggest you would be handing arses out to each of us, Bfume?bfume wrote:Update: peterjfrigate and bfume are progressing well with peterjfrigate as Allies. We're restarting our other scenario [with bfume as Allies] on the new version since I was getting my arse handed to me.
Did you pay him his dollar?

Re: Beta Dieppe Tournament V1.1
Versions of Dieppe are fully 'upgrade safe'... So long as both players upgrade, you can safely carry on any current games...LandMarine47 wrote:Hmmm If we continue into the next turn will we have everything that was included in 1.1
To check which version you have, go to New Challenges, create a new challenge, and note down which version number it shows... That's what you've got...

I'm pretty sure you've got 1.1 already, LM. It's not giving me any 'code mismatch' errors in either of the two v1.1 games that we're playing...LandMarine47 wrote:JCB are you using V1.1? For me it looks like 1.04. In that case Ill abondon the games and make new ones.
Justin, are you getting 'code mismatches' versus LandMarine? LM has 1.1 for sure (from the game I'm playing with him).
So long as both of you upgrade, there's no need to abandon anything in progress...

I did pay him his dollar. I think. He most assuredly owes me a few himself, so we're likely even.GottaLove88s wrote: Didn't dot.comCTO suggest you would be handing arses out to each of us, Bfume?

As far as the arses go... well... see that's what we call sarcasm.

Um. That would be a big NO! And I'm sure he'll end up paying me 100 pennies...unrolled!GottaLove88s wrote:Didn't dot.comCTO suggest you would be handing arses out to each of us, Bfume?bfume wrote:Update: peterjfrigate and bfume are progressing well with peterjfrigate as Allies. bfume is just lulling you guys into a false sense of security! Don't let him fool you...or get away with it! Show him who's who!

Re: Beta Dieppe Tournament V1.1
Haha, thanks d.c CTO... We plan to!... I'm just having trouble getting any of my opponents to complete 2way Dieppe games...DotComCTO wrote:bfume is just lulling you guys into a false sense of security! Don't let him fool you...or get away with it! Show him who's who!
--DotComCTO
If Bfume is ready to take his beating... I'm happy to play him 2way...
But with two conditions: If he starts, he's gotta finish our game... And he's got to finish without whining if he gets caught (especially if I land a massive Allied force on his beaches unmolested... again... yawn ...yeah, I've been pretty lucky in my last 3 games... but it is possible... )

Re: Beta Dieppe Tournament V1.1
ACHTUNG SPOILERS!!: If you're having difficulty with Dieppe but still want to try to solve it for yourself... STOP READING NOW!!
But for those who have surrendered too often and need a little help, read on. I will take this post down later (so please don't quote it anyone)... THANKS
Mein Gott! Von where did all these Tommies come??!!
As dawn breaks... a Royal Navy destroyer force lays a thick wall of smoke... preventing reaction fire from coastal guns, to hide thirty (yup, that's 30 gentlemen ) Allied troops assaulting the beach... Smoke also blocks German visual on the attacking troops, so defenders cannot target an effective bombard, without exposing their infantry spotters to murderous reaction fire...
The most threatening 152mm coastal gun, in the easterly bunker by Puys village, lies dead and idle... taken out by the adjacent Royal Marine platoon...
Meanwhile, the transports that have successfully landed, sail across the German line of fire, to draw out the locations of hidden defenders... Heads down!! Here come the B17s!!
This is a real game versus a human opponent... I won't say who, but it's fair to say that they know the game and the map... and they're a darned good player... This tactic isn't the only one that works but it's worked twice for me now... so it should work for you too... Sure, there are other strategies, but you don't want ALL the answers, do you?
See you at the Casino lads? Put ten francs on 8 black for the Colonel...
