Re: Tricks and Tips
I have several questions about DLC 44´east
1st:
I finished the 1st mission with more objektives than at the start
and escorted 5 airplanes to my airfields but pulled of just a minor victory.
2nd question:
in the vanilla campain I get prestige per turn(differs very much why?)
but in the DLC not.
Will I only get prestige by taking cities?
3rd :
when can I buy more core units during the 1st scenario
4th:
am I able to play each of the DLC scenarios seperate like the VC ones?
5th.
is the amount of useable core units limited with the 1st scenario?
Can I only build new ones cause i loose some?
cheers

Re: Tricks and Tips
@Ulerian:
(1) IIRC you have to leave the bridge engineers (the "supplies") on the airfield hex. If you move one of these units from the airfield at which it disembarked, it doesn't count.
(2) Prestige for "holding out" varies by scenario. You always get prestige for taking flagged hexes, though.
(3) You can buy any new units you want (and can afford) during the deployment phase. Once a scenario has started, you can buy a new unit only if you lose or disband one.
(4) Not by design. It can be done with a simple tweak (see FAQs), but the scenarios become very unbalanced this way, in my experience (although admittedly I only tried it once or twice).
(5) Yes and see #3.

Re: Tricks and Tips
Thanks Robman,
1 I thought the same and now leave the supplies untuched
2/5 I reffered the the 1st scenario east `44
there is no deployment phase but in the following scenario I am able to buy normally
Is it possible that enemy´s counterattacks only trigger if I cross a special line or scout enemy´s ground forces?
In korsun pocket 1st DLC`44 east
I realised that enemy attacks only trigger when I scout them with my planes.
I am not sure if they wont attack if I do not move/scout but it seems so.
Another question is in which way am I able to get enemy armour(KV-1/2, T34 and so on)

Re: Tricks and Tips
Absolutely. Different scenarios have different triggers.ulerian wrote:Is it possible that enemy´s counterattacks only trigger if I cross a special line or scout enemy´s ground forces?
You capture them, usually by taking secretly designated non-objective flagged town hexes. If a hex has such a unit for capture, it will appear next to the hex on the following turn. (In other words, you have to capture the hex by the next to last turn in order to capture any units it might hold.) The hexes with capturable units are usually just beyond the objectives for a decisive victory. There is not one in every scenario and there is rarely more than one. There is a captured unit thread on the forum, if you want to know where they are in advance. Personally, I like to keep it a surprise.ulerian wrote:Another question is in which way am I able to get enemy armour(KV-1/2, T34 and so on)
Re: Tricks and Tips
thanks for the infos Rob
I got a DV now taking 45 coreunits with me
unfortunately I can only place 33 units in the next scenario
does the amount of useable core units differ from DV>MV?
Another question I have is about the "initiative"
in PG a unit with higher "initiative" hits 1st
the remainig enemy units fight back.
In PC I have the feeling even if the whole unit is killed with the 1st attack
it can fight back.
So "initiative" seems useless
cheers

Re: Tricks and Tips
In PG even if a unit won the initiative just by one point i.e. 6 to 7 the whole unit shot first. In PC initiative is more granular. The difference between the initiatives of the units involved in the combat decides how many dice rolls the get before the enemy can shot back.
You can read more detailed information about initiative in PC here and here.
This leads to initiative being worth less then in PG where it was the predominant stat but it's by far not worthless. For every point of difference in initiative a unit has over the other unit 20% of the (unsurpressed strength of the) other unit will not shoot back.
Therefore if the difference is 5 or more the other unit will not shoot back (5 * 20% = 100%).
Fractions are rounded up, so if the a unit is at 4 strength and the difference in initiative is 3 then 60% of 4 will not return fire, so (1 - 0.6) * 4 = 1.6 and this is rounded up to 2.
You can read more detailed information about initiative in PC here and here.
Re: Tricks and Tips
Ahh now that makes sense.
Thanks for your reply.
I started Korsun breeakout now for the 3rd time
running out of prestige the 1st.
Now I dispand some of the units I could not place(7) and have enough prestige now to resupply my damaged units
the scenario runs well untill now.
My question is does the amount of placeable core units increase during DLC 44east(now 33 placeable durin 2nd scenario)?
If yes I wouldn´t dispand my units.
If no I can finish this scenario

For example, if you have a DV (decisive victory) in Piatek, as gain prestige? If I have an MV (Vitoria Marginal) in Piatek, as gain prestige?
Thus would be clearer the best route to take. Well we could, during the match, decide between which decide achieve goal versus the risk involved in the losses of the units.
Game Designers or Gamers, you have this relationship of Prestigious verses Victory?
Re: Tricks and Tips
The amount of prestige you receive for completing a certain scenario with a minor or a decisive victory, and even a loss, can be found in a file called campaign.pzdat. This file is located in the /data subdirectories of the game folders, the DLC campaigns have a seperate file. You can open it with Excel or even Notepad.ceandersen wrote:Game Designers or Gamers, you have this relationship of Prestigious verses Victory?
For example, a decisive victory at Piatek gives 100 prestige, a minor victory 50 prestige and a loss 200 prestige.

Thank you! That was exactly what I needed! So I can trace the route between the scenarios that will give me greater prestige!ThvN wrote: The amount of prestige you receive for completing a certain scenario with a minor or a decisive victory, and even a loss, can be found in a file called campaign.pzdat. Re: Tricks and Tips
After 2 years just got a Decisive Victory in the last scenery of the Vanilla Campaign at Field Marshal level, so here some advices ...
1- Prestige: don't waste it, use it to replace the many losses you'll have, to upgrade your panzers and airforce, to refill units. I started EC with 13624, MidWest with 11938 and WC with 7580 ( ended with more or less 100 points...)
In WC I've got a "reserve" of prestige for the final 2-3 turns, to buy some artillery or tanks for tha last assault to San Francisco and Seattle.
2- For East Coast; the real challenge is the landing, in this phase it's important to have a huge air force, to protect your convoys. Here I used a mixed force of Tiger and Panthers, always backuped by artillery. But after the landing it's not so difficult, also because there's no need to gain a decisive victory.
3- For Midwest; Oh my God! Never seen so many tanks, neither at Prokhorovka Really, here the main force must be of tanks and mainly of Tiger2, USA tanks are too big and too hard! But Panthers are still necessary because of their "long range" capacity. Infantry here is useful only at the end, so your backbone force must be of panzers! Also here not needed a decisive victory.
4- West coast; ok, it's time to rush here, we need a decisive victory! (in order to unlock "special levels"), the challenges in the south are the hard defense of Los Angeles and San Francisco. Only Huge artillery force, Tiger2 and Pionieres ( for LA I had 1 Gustav , 3 Wurfrahmen, 1 panzerwerfer, 1 Sig38 and 2 level bombers) will do the work! Ah, yes level bombers, emply them in destroying enemy's battle ship, must be the first task! And use fighters only in a defensive role at the beginning.
In the north the real challenge is Seattle, here we need also some panthers bacause there's a long way to run!
Here I bought in the last 2-3 turns some artillery "of the last chance", I had three stugs, 1 280mm cannon, 1Wurfrahmen 3 Bumbar, and took Seattle on turn 18.
Occupy every city during your run, every prestige point here is life!

I am assaulting Bastogne and I have maybe 20 V rockets. Should I use them all or I can spare some of them for late scenarios? Any tips?
