I am on the Wassigny map and have to find and capture the general. How do I know where and when I capture him, and what unit is he with when I have him?

He will appear at the start of your next turn after your capture the town he is in. If I recall he is in a recon unit, which will appear next to the town. If you search Wassigny on the forum im sure youll find a few topics on this, this battle will test your skill. Watch for spoilers though if you read those topics lol

Wont say more as it will spoil your fun in this battle, good luck!!

One of the victory hexes you capture will spawn the French general on the following turn. The VH in question is really not difficult to discover when you hover your mouse cursor over every one of them... Personally, one of my favorite DLC 40 missions.

Wassigny can be a good test of your ability to read and act on the briefing. Not everyone likes it, but it's a good feeling when you come out with a decisive victory knowing that you were cunning as well as effective. Good luck!

Thank you for your replies. I think I am going the wrong way about it and I am on the verge of being overwhelmed, so best I start again armed with my new knowledge. :)

I knew what I was suppose to do, but was not sure how the scenario would act it out.

Sometimes it is better to stick to the mission orders to avoid unnecessary losses. The DLC 40 scenarios are quite challenging, for the known reasons, especially the missions against the French.

The first time I played this scenario, I tried to bomb the recon unit because I didn't recognize it. I didn't figure it out till it was surrounded by French tanks and lit up with the "next" button. Had to play that one again.

I have a quick question about this battle, as I am going to attempt it on Guderian on a one time playthrough.

With that in mind it would help me greatly if I knew how long it takes to transport the recon to the victory hex, this will help in my planning and execution of my battle plan.

Does it take 3, 4, or God forbid 5 turns?

I really would like to know so I can make plans to try this weekend, I will be okay with a Marginal Victory, but want to at least try for the Decisive. ;)
