GC upgrade project replays

I finally started to play the upgraded DLCs from the Grand Campaign with the updated vanilla equipment file. You can get all those from http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 47&t=69744

I begin the Grand Campaign with GC 39 - extended edition, which includes an extra scenario in order to be able to handpick the units for my core army. Also the original infamous Poznan map (Breslau - Wroclaw, remember?) has been replaced by a brandnew version.

I decided to play on Colonel, with AI prestige set to 200, AI level 2, combat random is normal and reform units are on. The equipment file is v.15 from my updated vanilla e-file project.

The extra mission rewards a Pz IIIE with the hero Hans Müller. Then finally i can start assembling my core army.

Purchases:

Two 39 Wehr inf + horse transport (why it wasn't unlocked in PzC v1.30 is a mystery)
Two MG 34 + opel blitz
Two Pz IID (the panzer II family has the recon movement trait in this e-file)
One Pz IVC
One 10,5 cm leFH 18 + horse transport
One 10,5 cm leFH 18 + opel blitz
Two Bf 109e
Two Ju 87B

I finished the mission in 14 turns, 1566 prestige and no losses.

Received a bonus (SE) Pz IIIE at the start of this mission

The Pz IIs are great in attack-withdrawal. Hopefully they won't prove to be the favorite snack of the AI just like the regular recons.

Mission result: DV in 13 turns, 2718 PP

Hi Nico,
you are going to have great fun here, I have just finished doing the Same (but without horse transport !) the K18's are killers. I am going to start again but only using your SS for infantry and tanks to see how far I get before I run out of points. I will have to use non SS for the other areas like AA or Art etc.

With the v.15 e-file up in the DLC upgrade project thread, replays should be watchable.

This scenario is Lodz, in which i got a second bonus unit, a (SE) Bf 110c.
I bought a pionier because my core army feels still a bit light in the infantry department. I forgot that during this mission the über-mountaineer unit makes it appearance.
No unit losses, nor losses to the 10th Army.
A lovely DV in 11 turns and 3543 PP.

Piatek is the best defensive mission at least until DLC 42E.
I bought a Sturmpanzer I, which has range 2 in this e-file.
The mission ends at turn 20, with no core losses and 4240 PP.

For this one i made no purchases nor upgrades.
This mission is somewhat tricky with so much forest. Keep the armor as much in the open as possible and the rest in closed terrain and it should be relatively easy to win this one.

The Modlin scenario is my favorite scenario of the Polish campaign.
I won't deploy my two fighters, but purchase and deploy two He 111's instead. The Albert Kerscher Pz 38(t) at turn two is a nice bonus and hopefully it will get quite some experience in this scenario. Maxed out core units are as good as invincible in the missions in Norway.
The Modlin fortresses always seem to wreck some havoc, this time two of my panzers were almost destroyed.
At least another DV, in 14 turns, no core losses and 5284 PP. Onwards to the final mission against the Poles.

I chose to play Warsaw North, possibly for the very first time.
I decided to purchase another Bf 109e and a Ju 87B; an airforce still small but i hope they will have gained much experience by the time i must fight the French in the upcoming western campaign.
Sofar hero appearance has been very meager, only a +1 defence for a stuka sofar. Usually the flying artillery is among the first to receive heroes, so i hope all the stukas will have a hero by the end of this DLC.
Warsaw North was surprisingly easy and at the end i left the AI with the possibility to spawn a few extra units, just for the extra kills.
The campaign in Poland is concluded with yet another DV in 15 turns, no core losses and 5549 PP.
Usually i skipped the spoils of war scenario in earlier DLC 39 playthroughs, but since i replaced some of the Soviet units for the upgrade project, i am looking forward to play this scenario next.

I gladly accepted the challenge of the Soviet commander, especially to see a specific "Soviet Corps" unit in action. The T-28 can be very dangerous against soft targets but on the defense it is easily subdued.
The appearance of a special Bf 110 was greatly accepted, it surely rains "special" units in DLC 39.
I took it slow and easy and by turn 13 the Soviets were utterly crushed. DV in 13 turns, 6677 PP, no core losses. This extra mission is an excellent opportunity for the army to reach two star experience.

The heavy cruiser Blücher has been saved and all other objectives captured.
No core losses, DV in 13 turns and 7791 PP. An excellent start of operation Weserübung.

At the start of Lillehammer, no purchases nor upgrades of units. The veterans walsed over Lillehammer in a moderate 13 turns. A DV was awarded, with 8749 PP and no core losses.

No upgrades nor purchases at the deployment phase, deployed the entire airforce and i left most of the armor in reserve.
Pure Blitzkrieg in Narvik, winning the scenario in 8 turns, 9426 PP and no core losses. DLC 39 has been concluded most successfully.

Let's begin with DLC 40.
The AI gets 200% of prestige income, AI level set to 2, v1.20 rules, reform units on, combat random normal.
Immediately an SS Panzer IVD has been awarded, wonderful.

Core upgrades:
The Sturmpanzer and the Polish artillery were exchanged for StuG IIIA's.
That's enough upgrades for now.

I prefer the StuG over the Sturmpanzer because a StuG has more ammo, a better ground defence and it is a fortkiller.

Eben-Emael is conquered and the Belgian border defences have been laid to waste. The introduced Allied Corps planes are a nice change from the original version.
No core losses, a DV in 12 turns with 10180 PP.

Still no upgrades or purchases at the time we are ordered to secure the Albert Canal. The four Stukas are really paying off and at a terrific pace, the 300 XP mark is soon to be reached.
The Albert Canal is ours in 17 turns, no core losses and 12773 PP.

Even in The Netherlands, my army is performing at peak efficiency. No upgrades at the start were required to perform adequately on this field of battle.
Unfortunately one of the Fallschirmjägers didn't make it but luckily i still got the DV after 14 turns and with 13047 PP.
