Development update MPC 41.

Hello guys.
The bad news is, my vacation came to an end.
The good news is, I started working on the sixth scenario of this DLC.
The title of this scenario is Daugavpils.
The army needs to capture Daugavpils, Rezekne and Gulbene for a DV; Daugavpils suffices for a MV.
The city of Riga is also on the map but is not part of the victory requirement. At the player's discretion Riga can be captured to reap some bonuses. I am considering capturable equipment, special German unit or prestige dump. Suggestion/preference is welcome.
After this scenario, the campaign tree will split in two for the duration of two scenarios. At the moment, the twist in the campaign tree is only on paper and is still subject to changes.

Some feedback about the released MPC 41 scenarios would be great.

Without wishing to go into too much detail, my experience indicates that any unit in Daugavpils should start the turn fully suppressed at the cost of 10 prestige. In contrast any unit ending the turn in RIga should be raised to full strength for free.

Perhaps the restored strength at Riga would be a good enough incentive - nice for all players, but especially welcome for those playing at settings that give them a real challenge.

I'll browse the DLC 41 scenarios to check which special units appear, except for Rudel naturally who is scripted already in the Raseiniai mission.

I assume you're talking about supressing the Soviet units in the first round?

Restoring strength has advantages and disadvantages. The game makes no differentiation if a unit's strength is below or above 10. This trigger is good for units who are below 10; but a unit with strength 13 will also be set to 10.
It might overcomplicate things even when i add an in-game message to warn people about this, but in any case would it just not be better to give a prestige reward? Let's say 2000 prestige (on colonel level of difficulty).

Not really. I probably should have used a smiley or something to show that the Daugavpils comment was not intended to be game-related, but more a (rather hazy) recollection of the time I spent in Daugavpils. I remember Daugavpils had an impressive fortress though probably more use against 1700's technology than 1940s technology.

The Riga comment actually was game related - I was trying to think of something different that might be useful, but I hadn't realised that resetting strength could knock strength off an overstrength unit, and was thinking you could add 1 (though again it's a much bigger prestige benefit if you are already at 15 than if at 1). Bonus units are always welcome, especially something like prototypes a few months ahead of time or higher then normal base strength 11 or 12 (like the Messina treats in 44West)

That's a good question. My first few ideas:
A Marder;
43 Bridge engineers (maybe with +2 move and +2 ini hero);
Captured KV2.

Note that I haven't thought in any detail about historical and geographical relevance factors, just pulled up some units that provide a bit of colour and would probably be useful.

I'll take something that becomes available 3-4 months after this particular scenario.

After some consideration, the reward for capturing Riga is prestige and a sIG 33 II (sf) (+3A, +3D, +4INI)
I hope this map offers plenty of maneuverability and different approaches to capture all objectives. The map is slightly larger than the actual screenshot.
Some feedback on the already available scenarios would be nice too.

Dear Niki (or anyone else),

I tried to merge MPC39 with the "Soviet Guards,Waffen SS & Kriegsmarine miniMod".
I extracted all files (flags etc.) in the main folder. I also added the eqpfile in the modfolder MPC39. I have also changed the campaign.dat adding, kriegsmarine and waffen SS as playable nations. (i also added netherlands to axisplayable nations)
When i use scenario editor i can add kriegsmarine units to the map. But when i start the first mission, and I open the purchase screen i can only buy regular german and dutch units.

Do you know what i did wrong, or if it just isn't possible to merge these mods?

You have to add these "new" nations in every scenario with the use of the scenario editor (edit->scenario parameters->nations). It does not suffice to add those nations in the campaign.pzdat file only.

Hi nikivdd,
In the scenario Raseiniai, only Kaunas is fortified.The Russians built a strengthened line in Lithuania, the "Molotov Line" :

In Lithuania the line consisted of four fortified regions:

1. Telšiai fortified region (line from Palanga to Judrėnai, 75 kilometers, 8 centers of resistance, 23 bunkers built and 366 under construction on June 22, 1941).
2. Šiauliai fortified region (line from Pajūris to Jurbarkas, 90 kilometers, 6 centers of resistance, 27 bunkers built and 403 under construction).
3. Kaunas fortified region (line from Jurbarkas to Kalvarija, 105 kilometers, 10 centers of resistance, 31 bunkers built and 599 under construction).
4. Alytus fortified region (line from Kalvarija to border of Lithuanian SSR, 57 kilometers, 5 centers of resistance, 20 bunkers built and 273 under construction).

Overall 101 bunkers were built in Lithuania but many were not fully completed. They were significantly vulnerable and could be neutralised quickly by throwing grenades or burning fuel into periscope shafts, which were absolutely unprotected.

Hi Niki,
Have played the latest version of the 35-39 campaign - core was saved succesfully.
Installed the latest MPC 40, core was loaded, but units were changed:
-Pz.MkIVC => Pz.MkI
-Pz.MkIII => Pz.Mk.II
-One SE unit was changed to regular core unit
-4 of 5 artillery units are gone / no longer present in core list

The 35-39 core-save lists 24 units, of which only 17 are loaded into 40 MPC.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

FOUND & FIXED the problem:
The equipment.pzeqp file in the MPC 35-39 data folder was dated 02-03-2017, the one in the MPC 40 folder (most recent downloaded from the first post in this thread) was dated 28-07-2013. Changed the one in the MPC 40 folder for the one in the MPC 35-39 folder and all units are intact :-).

Hi Niki,

Have played the latest MPC 35-39 and 40 - loved it!
The instructions beforehand and the historical resumé afterward give a better impression what to expect, as well as some more knowledge of the battle just played.
Love the German Armoured Train!
The StuGIII A and B have strange (but welcome) parameters: they NEVER receive any hits when attacking, whatever unit and digged in at whatever level. One was awarded and I bought a 2nd one, which will surely remain first-hand first-attack units, including bunkers. Without defending artillery they surely will become vunerable after 1941 I guess.
I combine your mods with the SS-units MOD (Elite Units), which offers choice of improved SS-units.

For fun I tried the alt-ctrl-shft-C / bonus option, to see what SE units would be awarded, throughout the 35-39 and 40 campaign. It only awards infantry, tank or dive-bomber SE units - is that done on purpose?

Both Italian battles are a challenge, since no German units can be used - though I see no other option in the end than to sell them to use the prestige for my German units.

Playing on Rommel level - now heading toward Belgrade!

+ Finished Belgrade and must admit that it was a bit too easy... Am i correct Belgrade is the only battle to reflect the German Yugoslavia offensive?

Very curious if your 6th battle will be ready before I have reached it...

I think the sIG33 is a wonderful choice, since there are not many (if none) arty heroes distributed...
But, would gladly the +3D and +4INI heroes for +range and +movement instead ;-)
