Version 1.4.0 Released (Return of the Messari)

Download and apply the update by launching Pandora.

NOTE: Saved games from previous versions are not compatible with this version.

The ancient Messari return to Pandora with all their might, deploying portals and terrifying ion storms. From these portals come forces never before seen by mankind, and an infestation spreads across Pandora. The strongest factions are the ones that have to fear them most, but they will spare no one.

This free add-on comes together with the Steam release; visit slitherine.com to redeem a key. It also includes new population growth technologies, new tips and a great amount of balance changes. See below for the full list.

Added:
* Added alien invasion commencing around turn 200 (standard pace).
* Added new growth buildings: Gene Therapy Clinic, Replicant Factory and Hegemonising Nanotech Suppressor.
* Added new growth advancement: Eugenic Population Survey.
* Capturing a rival city now emigrates a certain portion of population growth back to the original owner.
* Added ability to win an allied military or economic victory.
* Added ability to deploy multiple operations of the same type by holding shift.
* Added turns remaining display for orders with a duration.
* Added new tips.

Changed:
* Changed quick load key to F9 and quick save key to F10 to not conflict with Steam's take screenshot hotkey F12.
* Lowered morale effect from 5% to 4%.
* Each negative morale now also lowers growth by 4%.
* Habitat is now twice as important compared to morale for migrating colonists.
* Changed city takeover unhappiness duration from 10 to 20 turns.
* Watercraft can now capture cities.
* Increased Aircraft upkeep from 3 to 4.
* Aircraft can no longer flank and do not count towards flanking for other units.
* Moved Pandoran Construction to a subtier later in the technology tree.
* Changed Suburb from +1 to +2 habitat.
* Changed Energy Park from +2 to +3 credits.
* Changed Academy buildings from +1/+2/+3 ranks and 1 upkeep to +2/+4/+8 ranks and 2 upkeep.
* Changed Field Training from 40% health damage to 10% health damage for every rank the unit has.
* Buffed Field Training from +1 rank to +2 rank.
* Field Training can now be deployed on allies.
* Buffed Togra University refit cost from -25% to -50%.
* Changed Fungus movement cost from 3 to 2, allowing ATVs to pass through it in one turn.
* Decreased Resource Usage Normalizer device from +25% production cost to +0% production cost.
* Decreased Enhanced eXperience Processor device production cost from +25% to +0%.
* Reduced Xenomorph Spitter power from 1.0 to 0.5.
* Tweaked refit costs to be cheaper, especially when changing weapons.
* Increased amount of ruins.
* Doubled ruins rank base gain from 2 to 4.
* Pace now affects units' healing rate.
* Damage operations can now be used inside allies' territories.
* Drop Pod can now be used from allied cities.
* Increased connectivity for technologies.
* Missy now shows up only once per WMD building.
* Grid is now off by default.
* Improved requirements and conditions system.
* Tweaked multiplayer panel flow.
* Minor save loading optimizations.
* Clarified how Naval Transportation Logistics works.
* Improved existing tips.
* Language tweaks.

Fixed:
* Fixed spectators crashing when a faction is eliminated. Again.
* Fixed units that cannot attack being taken into account for flanking bonuses.
* Fixed contact sometimes not being established when a unit comes into view.
* Fixed alien spawn rate on quick pace being higher than intended.
* Fixed building cooldowns not being affected by pace.
* Fixed not being able to use '-', '+' and '#' characters in unit and design names.
* Fixed units not being displaced out of faction borders when declaring war with outstanding open borders.
* Fixed unit displacement not canceling orders.
* Fixed territory acquisition forbidden symbol sometimes not showing.
* Fixed Transcendence Era entered report showing when entering Mechanization Era.
* Fixed era entered icons.
* Fixed game lobby panel sometimes being unresponsive.

Removed:
* Removed Cloning Center operation.

Steam:
* Added 80 Steam achievements.
* Added Steam Cloud support for saved games.
* Added Steam friends list invite and join game support.
* Streamlined multiplayer flow to accommodate proper interaction between Steam and non-Steam versions.

Congrats to Slitherine on getting this out the door. I hope the Steam release is a big success for you and am excited to see where your superb support takes the game in the future!

1.4.2. has been released to some of us so, where to get Ver 1.4.2 ?
I only have the Steam Version 1.4.1.

Lot to do, that this game will be a real gem, but it is possible !

PS: For EVERY ATTACK POSSIBILITY there should be a protection ... Patriot system, Nuclear Shields, black hole disrupter field and so on
also NO MORE CITY spamming for AI ... it is cheating like hell !

The cheats of the AI are well described and directly linked to difficulty.
You can either lower the difficulty to where the AI doesn't cheat (Easy) or accept that you are competing with opponents that have an advantage that you have to find a way to overcome for all difficulties above Easy.

Btw. I got 1.4.2 when I wrote a PM to "void" and asked. But back then he also said they were working on a way to make it accessible to steam aswell.
But this has apparently been halted with not enough people pressuring them for this step.

I'm not exactly happy with how they deal with public relations. I can well imagine that by now the amount of purchasers via steam has exceeded those who got it from their site.

Why would they work for Steam? and not on their game. Gabbe has the money to hire devs and adapt games to his DRM.. Oh, that's what made his success, making all devs work for him for free..

Why? Because it's a synergy.
Sure steam earns something off of their work. But steam also reaches a much broader audience. Just compare activity of this game's steam-forum and this forum here. I'd say it's like 5-10 times higher there.

I'd also guess that the amount of copies sold over steam makes a bigger chunk than copies sold otherwise.
