intuitive vs. subtle

Post by Xilmi »

There's an issue with one of the improvements I wanted to make:
Different opinion between the Devs and me.

I'd like to know what other people think about it, thus creating this poll here.

Here's another variant of the Icons with bigger icons for bigger yields:

After seeing this, maybe I'd change my vote. but I'm just really happy to see this citizen yield amount indicator added. It will make it so much easier to play efficiently.

Thanks!

One thing about the stripes-issue is that right now it is only 4 for every thing from 4 and above.
I would have to make even more icons to cover the up to 7 yields that are possible with the unmodded game.

Also I really don't like them from an aesthetical point of view.

I play the game a lot and I want it to look nice. :o
For me the logic: big icon = big yield just feels better than having to count and tell the difference of 3 or 4 stripes.

I agree completely. Good graphics help for immersion.

I wish I could change my vote.

Well, I have a 4:2-poll in german pandora-forum and this 2:2 with one of the voters for stripes regretting his vote.
I'll send both links to Rok and hope it'll be convincing.

After contacting Sephirok again and him making clear, that he still isn't convinced, I eventually came up with the ultimate solution:
I made it an option. Took me quite a while to figure out how doing this works but I eventually made it.
Now I just need italian and dutch translations for the text-entry and mouseover in the options-menu. ^^

I would like to vote, but I don't understand what's about.
It seems a 7 errors game where we have to search for the tiny differences.

Edit: oh! there's an hint, only if we display the pole results!:

Got news on this.
It will default to the white lines, but by editing

<entry name="StylizedAllocationIcons" value="1"/>
in
c:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Proxy Studios\Pandora\Config\Pandora.xml

you can set it to the icons. This was the compromise I could work out with the devs. So there won't be a new menu-entry but you can alter directly in the config-file if you want.
