AI and 3.0

Post by lhughes » Sun May 18, 2014 11:40 pm

I played the old v1.0 with it's very weak AI. has this changed? Thinking of as a prelude to any pbem. Finally anyone who has played the SC series care to compare?
Thanks,
Luke

AI is still very weak - some minor tweaks, but you still wouldn't buy the game to play the AI

3.0 is a very different game to 1.0 - you will hardly recognise it!

Its great for PBEM, easy to learn but very hard to master

Thanks for such a quick reply. Could I learn 3.0 via AI play or should one really learn via PBEM?

you can certianly learn the mechanisms through the AI, but it will teach you bad habbits :-)

better I think to play PBEM as soon as you have sorted the mechanisms which is most of an AI campaign or just dive straight in, either way you will lose the first 3 games

(Hint: play the Allies the first few times. Watch what your opponent does with the Axis, and build up your skills from there.)

Neither side is "easy," but the Axis have little margin for error. One or two boneheaded moves and the Axis goes down in flames. (I speak from unhappy experience.) The game is more forgiving of Allied missteps.
