Status of GS v3.10

There are currently no bugs we know of in GS v3.10.

Once we have got the result of the vote regarding Scapa Flow we will be finalizing the files and sending them to Slitherine.

So it won't be long until Slitherine will start making the GS v3.10 version. I don't know when they have time to release it though.

It may be too late to take on new suggestions (or it may already have been actioned) but it has always struck me as odd that the Italians can build naval units at Tirana. I understand why this is - Albanian territory is listed as Italian at the start of the game and Tirana is a mainland port linked to Rome. But this, along with the fact that Albania can generate pro-Axis partisans :shock: :roll: , seems an argument for reassigning Albania as occupied territory from the start. Maybe even capable of generating pro-Allied partisans! (For which see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_ ... _(Albania) )

A minor point I know, but it would contribute slightly towards historical realism.

Italy can not build any units in Tirana. They need a contiguous line of Italian core hexes to Rome to be able to produce.

I checked and you can indeed place new NAVAL units in ports with supply level 5 where the controlling land hex is a core hex. It has been like this for a long time. So you can even place units in Sicily since the port in Messina helps giving supply level 5 to Sicily. You can't place a unit on Sardinia, though.

Should you be able to even place land units in Tiara and Sicily?

I only mentioned NAVAL units. I think that this is unrealistic. If there is an easy to code way to prevent it I think that it would be an improvement. I agree with no land units in Tirana (although this seems inconsistent with being able to place naval units)

I agree with being able to place new land units in Sicily if connected to Rome. Again it seems inconsistent to be able to place naval units but not land units. But I see this as a larger change to the game and I think that it needs wider discussion before being changed. (Although I would vote for a change :) .)

It would be quite a change to game balance, though also would seems realistic. Not sure how I feel about this one, though wouldn't want it's inclusion to delay 3.1, if means more play testing

Issue fixed. Now you can't place Italian naval units in Sicily or Albania. I found another bug too regarding France not being able to place naval units in southern France.

These issues have been there since the vanilla game period. So I think it's very rare people are affected by them. E. g. how often do you build naval units for France?

thats fine - it was placing land builds in Sicily that worried me

Slitherine / Matrixgames are working on the GS v3.10 installers for PC and MAC. So all files have been finalized.

No. We are struggling with the installer. It's picky when it comes to serial numbers and my serial number is now suddenly invalid. It's vacation time so it takes time to find the issue and make new installers.

I got a new serial number and the installer went well. I could run GS v3.10 after upgrading from GS v3.0.

So Slitherine will make the new installer available any day now. :)
