Be interested to hear any feedback or reports from the punters who attended this.
Re: Brussels challenge 2014
It was a very enjoyable competition.
Only 8 players but great fun.
A number of the players were quite new to the game, so a few of the games were used as training sessions, with a number of misinterpretations being cleared up.
Venue - excellent
Hosts - very welcoming
Games - very enjoyable
Organisation - enthusiastic !! (if a bit on-the-fly)
Steve Murton won with his 2 division French army (can't remember which year - either 1809 or 1812)
Jacques Wilputte 2nd - I didn't play against him, but I think it it was an allied army which included Swedes.
I came 3rd with Spanish !!! (a feat in itself).
Perhaps someone can publish the full table ????
I really enjoyed the weekend and will certainly be back there next year.

Re: Brussels challenge 2014
2 division French. Interesting. More info please.
Re: Brussels challenge 2014
Hy,
Sorry to answer late but i am now very busy at work .
I used a full 2 division 1813 swedish army and Stec a 2 division french 1809 army .
It worked rather well for both f us .
During my games what happened was that people underestimated the "poor" units as they still fire correctly being drilled. Most just wanted to assault frontally . I used the swedish guard ( large infantry with general , cuirassiers and dragoons ) to assault on the flanks
Points will be published shortly .
As Terry said, most players were new to the game. In belgium we can say there are 5 regular players, my son being interested .We will go to the worlds at Koblenz on august 15-16-17
Next year turnament will not be a training excercise as belgian players will be more experienced - or so I hope - . FOGN as no regular players in France except for Olivier Jouclas .
The 2015 FOGN theme will be 1815 . We are still studying the idea but basically players will be asked to use 1815 armies ( with 850 points ) or any other army ( with 800 points ). Terrain will be set up by the club, all based on 1815 battlefields .
We will keep you informed

Re: Brussels challenge 2014
As Terry said an enjoyable weekend.
I used a two mixed div French 1809 army
Exceptional Crops Com and 2 Competent Charismatic Div Com
1 LC unit in each Div
2 Large Drilled and 1 large and 1 small conscripts in 1st Div. Also had small Heavy guns
The other Div had 1 large drilled light inf and small Vet light inf, small vet line and small Sup Vet Grenadiers. Also had large Med guns.
My extra unit was a small LC which was used twice. I won the initiative in all 4 games.
I played a Bavarian 1809, Two allied British of 1815 and a French 1800?

My interpretation of "On the fly" :
A decisions made based on the situation at the time ..... usually when something can't be planned in detail beforehand.

Re: Brussels challenge 2014
Did neither of you with the 2 division corps not have problems with too many units disordered/wavering and needing to regain cohesion with too few commanders?
Re: Brussels challenge 2014
I had no problems as I also had , in each division a brigade general in key units ( jaegers and guard infantry ) . Being the defender, I usually got the first shot . But it was sometimes a near thing .
Also , I tried to push some fresh units in front of some wavering units , so I would protect them, and I used my cavalry to lessen the ennemy fire.
