I thought it might be easier if we had a new topic to present the lists from the tournament.
We each had to have a 650pt and 800pt list. Different scenarios required one or the other.
Here are my 1809 Saxons - two wins and two losses.

The 800pt I was pretty happy with.
I think the 650pt might need a tweak - okay on the defensive, but not so good on the attack.

Mine was:

Russian Infantry Corps - Army of the West 1812.

Both 800pt and 650pt lists had a Skilled Charismatic Corps Commander for a pre-game initiative of +3.


800 point list:

Mixed Division Commander - competent.
2 large Line PC unreformed.

1 small Line AD + gun attach.
1 large Medium Artillery AD + gun attach + officer attach.

Infantry Division Commander - competent.
1 small Line AD + gun attach.

Final tally was 3 wins (2 × 800pts, 1 × 650pt list) and 1 loss (650pt list). Total losses across the 3 wins was just 2 spent cossack units.

I chose this artillery-heavy combination on a WTF basis given that we would be only playing scenarios with no idea of what that might entail.  Hard to say how the 800pt list would go in a 'normal' game but the massed guns do present an issue to approach.  I found that the Skilled Charismatic CC could have been Competent Charismatic CC for no impact on my play. The charisma definitely proved usrful a few times for rallying at key points a couple of times. I had also thought that the lack of cavalry might prove a weakness but that wasn't the case though I'd also consider dropping a Light Infantry unit and upgrading the two small AD units to large.

Otherwise, I'd strongly recommend the cavalry division mix here. It can take up a fair amount of table space/time at relatively low risk, and still be capable of being a reasonable threat. Anyhows, the massed guns were fun and looked impressive ...

Mixed Nation Corps, 1813.

My army was designed to be the attacker (+5 on setup die) – no artillery units to slow me down, hard charging SC landwehr supported by tooled up line and the Russian Guard cavalry division were the keys to breaking opposition armies in a 30-10. Guard cavalry would always be supported by at least one other line HC to ensure a win in the cavalry fight. Or so was the plan!

Was there any 'tweaking' of list minimums allowed?

Dead. and I tried the Marengo scenario with the 1800 armies. The 1800 French in Italy was fine at 800 points defending, but when I go to make the 650 list for attacking, I come to 652 with only minimums. Part of the problem is a required exceptional CC + 2 skilled divisional commanders. Could the requirements for the skilled commanders have been modified?

Edit: I see some of you went with 2 divisions, infantry all packed into one. I could try that.

As the umpire, I was happy to consider any requests where it proved impossible with minimums to get to 650 points, but I don't think I actually had any.

How did the Marengo scenario go?

We basically lined up along the river and shot at each other to little effect the entire game.

-large French infantry in the Marengo buildings never dropped cohesion even once and with French artillery tucked in between the two Marengo buildings and between them and the vineyard, a huge amount of fire power went out into the Austrian units. Nothing ever broke...artillery wavered a couple times but Nappy always brought it back.
-it looked like the Austrians might move on the other side since there were no French in the 3rd building over there, but the arrival of a French cavalry division with cuirassiers put that to rest
-the Austrians tried to move in the area (defender far left flank) but were stopped by fire power as two units tried to move in that area past the Marengo building

Now, one thing in particular happened:

-Austrians only had two divisions, so half his army had to start marching on in column on that road on turn 1...with something like 6 units, he got hung up and it took 3 or 4 turns before most of his units from that division were in place facing the defender's far left flank...that meant most of the remaining French reinforcements were in and deployed by then...so that little condition caused problems (although we weren't playing time and went from 10am to about 3pm)...even if he could have marched in in column say 6MU either side of that road it would have helped

It was an interesting scenario, using the original armies. We plan to do it again, flipped, with the French attacking. I dread trying to remove large, veteran Austrian infantry from the Marengo buildings! The French will have no problems concentrating fast; we'll see if they can do anything because of that. I noticed some had just used one large infantry division with the 650 points list, so will try that to get me below 650 by a bit. The Italy 1800 command is horrendously expensive. It seemed like a daunting task for the attacker, given the buildings and the difficult vineyard.
