Stats...
I used to be able to access Slitherine (or was it fieldofglory.co.uk?) pages that gave all sorts of stats about comps. Such things as the results, most successful players/armies, etc. Upgraded my computer and seem to have lost all my favourite links, so has anyone any idea if and where I can find it now?
Many thanks - Chris

Re: Stats...
Thanks, Rob, but when I click on any of the headings I get some sort of welcoming message in German. Don't think it's my browser (Chrome) because I get the same problem with IE. Not sure if this is due to the recent hacking attack the site mentions.
However, the link initially shows a table of results for Neujahrsturnier 2016. When I click on any of the players or armies listed I then get the data I need and can change players or armies using the drop down on the page (but still not through the main headings). Very odd but, at least, better than nothing...

Re: Stats...
I think the button "Hier klicken für weitere Anzeigeoptionen" is quite useful - you can then put in criteria for date ranges and countries to bring up more detail.
If you tick the box "Zeige alle Spieler, auch jene welche seit mehr als 24 Monaten kein Turnier mehr bestritten haben." it also then includes results from players who have not played a tournament in the last 2 years - otherwise they seem to be excluded.
It also appears that the number of German results being entered has increased quite substantially over the last few years!

Thanks, Madaxeman. I'm a fan of your site but miss the FOG battle reports. Don't you play any more?

Re: Stats...
Not AM - other systems though.
My last game of FoGAM was back in 2012 when I stood in for a dropout in Lisbon.. http://www.madaxeman.com/reports/ITC_Lisbon_2012_1.php.
Other than that I essentially stopped playing AM after Warfare in 2010 http://www.madaxeman.com/reports/Warfare_2010_1.php ... .so you've probably already spent quite some time watching "repeats"!

Re: Stats...
Pity about that. There does appear to be some falling off of players of AM. Can I ask why you stopped?
And yes, I do find myself drawn to repeats. I only started playing again a couple of years back and (a) still have a lot to learn and (b) seem to have lost my ability to finish in the top half of the tables. Must be an age thing!

Re: Stats...
Basically I realised that I wan't enjoying the AM game any more, mostly as I was taking part in too many "unwinnable" yet depressingly similar games in competition against armies relying on a mobile "punch" and clouds of skirmishers who could shoot my troops and trigger multiple cohesion tests with no risk of being caught themselves.ChrisTofalos wrote:Pity about that. I swapped to FoGR, where both sides can usually shoot each equally, and so the balance of risk just feels a bit more even handed.

Re: Stats...
I would add the disaster of v2 rollout which essentially cured no real ills that were threatening participation was a serious blow to the game.
Also the disaster of the list writing interacting with the rules was a real handicap. You needed to have themes to allow more army diversity to come into play.
The whole chariot era set of lists were essentially worthless out of period and in period had limited competitiveness.
Then there was the wreckage of the roman era where essentially all of Rome's foe were completely uncompetitive with Rome and anything else.
Virtually every camel or elephant or chariot based army was wrecked by the troop mix being unviable.
There was so much recoverable if lists could be nudged into more competitive options and the troop to table space ratio got addressed. Had those been tackled in v 2, it would still be a vibrant game.
