My Field of Glory Pet Hates

Post by Eques »

1. (Other players) combining the charge and manouvre phases (they invariably do this no matter how much I stress the point pre-game)

2. (Myself) forgetting to apply quality re-rolls to cohesion tests.

Your opponents should help you out with this one.

Mine are:

Rolling a '1' when evading

Rolling a '1' on the death roll after taking 3 shooting hits.

So just rolling 1's really.

Just make sure they follow the turn sequence at the back of the book

Opponents who don't wheel correctly.
I see a lot of sliding going on with wheels such that one of the front corners is not fixed in place

Understandable though if they don't play the rules much. After all, it is odd that you charge in one phase, then move a unit up to overlap in the next since realistically, they'd all move at the same time. Although it's a games mechanism that is really required by the way that the rules are structured.

Hi All,
OK, I hate strange jargon on a forum when it is read by people from a variety of cultures - What exactly is a bennyhill?? (I know the comedian)
Cheers

Benny Hill, or to give it it's full name "The Benny Hill Phase" is that part of the game when the main combat lines have hit and resolve themselves and now you are frantically trying to catch enough of the enemy's army to break it. A bit like the sped up end to the TV show. It's an irritation, particularly if the enemy has lots of fast moving skirmishers that can outrun you.

We've tried to remove it in V3 by making skirmishers only count as 1 point towards an army break (proper troops being 2 points) and also significantly reducing the number of skirmisher battle groups available in the new army lists. The beta test phase of the new rules showed encouraging progress there.
