no text - just red blocks

I have just upgraded to windows 8, don't know whether or not this is connected. At the same time bought Chancellorsville. Now all text appears as a red block, with no text visible so the game is not playable

Yes, this issue is connected with Windows 8.

Open the folder where you've installed the game. Locate for the file named "autorun.exe". Select it and with the right mouse button select "Properties". Press the "Compatibility" tab. Tick the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows 7". Press Apply/OK. Run the game using the "Scourge of War - Gettysburg (Game Menu)" desktop icon.
