Save Games
The manual says: "If you hit the Esc key while on the main map, you will be returned to the Main Menu where you can save and/or quit the game in progress." But if I do that, there is no "save" button in the main menu, only a "load" button. The only way I found to save a game is the "save your turn" button in the upper right corner of the main map screen. So, if I save my current turn, the former save gave will be written over and is lost. So far, I only played missions lasting a few turns, but what if I want to play the 1861-1865 campaign? Is there no possibility of saving several turns of the same game? If one action proves to have been an error, I would like to go back and try again with my forces still intact.
Re: Save Games
When you click on a save game in the Load Menu, you'll have an option at the top, that permits you to to rename your game, restore a previous turn and delete save games.

Re: Save Games
Okay, so I understand the concept of CW II save games now (although I still think it is needlessly cumbersome), but after playing another few days, the game crashed when I saved my latest game, and it is now no longer possible to load formerly saved games. Even after I completely re-installed the whole game, I still get this screen after clicking the "Load" button in the main menu:
What can I do?
What can I do?
Re: Save Games
Do you still have any files in the save folder?
Documents\My Games\Civil War II\CW2\Saves
Documents\My Games\Civil War II\CW2\Saves

Yes, they are still there. Should I remove them?
Re: Save Games
Try this:
Open the folder where the game is installed and locate a file named "userpath.ini" and moved it away to a temporary place in your disk. This will make that the game won't use anymore the "Documents\My Games\Civil War II\CW2" to store saves and logs, and force the game to create instead an area for those files inside the game main folder.
After doing this start the game. Start a new game and save it. Open the folder where the game is installed and locate you save folder in "Civil War II\CW2\Saves". Cut and paste your older saves folders to that new folder. Start the game and try to load those save games.

Re: Save Games
Tried the above no luck. Copied over all the files but it still just comes up with an April 1861 when the files from my documents show it should be late june. Is this a windows 8 thing? Never had these problems in the past?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Save Games
Well happened again even after just fiddling around starting up numerous shell 61 campaign games and it eventually worked. I think I am giving up on this great game. When you can't even load your saved PBEM games what's the sense. Never had these issues with ACW or before the last patch. Happens on my Windows 8 laptop also.
