Getting off-topic with the flags aren't we?

And it may just be me, but anything with a swastika on it should probably be avoided due to the negative perception (rightly so!) associated with that piece of symbolism. I have never seen a commercial wargame use the swastika symbol on anything and I would guess that the general public would be hesitant to purchase a wargame that included it. Also, I think the developers of these fine wargames would want to avoid any negative publicity associated with it, too.

History is only time, no judge, no symbols (good or bad), no good people or dictators (that still exist in the XXI century), it's just the truth of the past. And in truth can not be hidden, because it is what it was. And if it's a game that tells the story you have to be faithful to it. Do not put what you want, but what it was, or do a real game or a fictional game. That's my opinion and reasoning.

An example of a real mod (optional):

Now, for my humble recommendations for specializations:

UK
Radar - provides increased Large and Small Aircraft Attack capability to all classes of fighters (perhaps +1 or +2 to these values).
- If fighter pilots know where enemy aircraft are coming from; what altitude they are at; and the number of enemy aircraft, then they would have a decisive advantage in aerial combat.

Development and Enhancement of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) - random sabotage acts occur against Axis forces on the battlefield (perhaps 1-3 events per scenario); perhaps a decrease of 1-3 strength points for randomly selected Axis units or random destruction of Axis facilities (airfields, bridges, ports, radar, bunkers, etc).
- Churchill definitely enhanced the SOE''s missions and intended to "set Europe ablaze" with some very aggressive plots.

Precision Bombing for Strategic Bombers (this one is near and dear to my heart as a retired USAF strategic bomber pilot) - increased Infantry/Mech/Naval attack values for Strat Bombers.
- the intent behind this specialization is to almost transform Strat bombers into large Tactical bombers and thereby improve their worth in the game. In their current form, I see very little value in Strat bombers. This could be a specialization for Italy or Germany as well.

Germany
Blitzkrieg - increased Resource Points for completing a scenario early. Perhaps a graduated scale could be created (if you complete the scenario in half of the allotted time, then you get a %50 increase in RP; if you finish in two-thirds of the allotted time, then you get a %33 increase in RP; and so on).
- In the German war plans, it was very critical to achieve objectives in a short timeframe to allow the forces to rest/re-fit and be readily available for future missions. This would be a high risk, with high rewards specialization since it will undoubtedly result in higher casualties to achieve a quick victory. The correct amount of additional RP's would need to be carefully balanced so as not to create a situation where too many RPs are awarded thereby making it too powerful of a specialization.

Enhanced Officer Corps Training/Recruitment - more leaders awarded to the German forces (perhaps an additional 2-4 leaders within a campaign).
- Above all other nations, the Germans had the best officer corps in the world from their Field Marshals down to the Lieutenants. This is not to say that other militaries had poor officers, nor I imply that all German officers were great, but in my opinion the Germans had the overall best training/recruitment/screening of their officers.

Improved U-boat Tactics - decreased Resource Points for Allied nations during each scenario.
- This would represent an aggressive plan to sink allied shipping and would have a noticeable impact on Allied operations. The player would not be able to see the results of this on the battlefield, he might just have to trust that this specialization is working as planned since there would be no visible evidence on the battlefield (perhaps a pop-up window could inform the player of the amount of lost Allied RPs?) Again, proper balance is key here to prevent this from becoming a specialization that is not too powerful....or too weak!

Aggressive Intelligence/Reconnaissance Operations - random sections of the battlefield are revealed to the player (perhaps a 5x5 hex grid?) during a scenario. The number of occurrences of this specialization during a scenario should be a percentage of the total number of turns (example: if a scenario is planned for a maximum of 60 turns, the 5x5 grid should be revealed during %5 of the total turns...or in this case on 3 occasions randomly during the scenario).
- This would represent the fleeting nature of intelligence and reconnaissance data...the data that is gleaned is only accurate for a brief period of time before it becomes irrelevant. This specialization could be applied to any nation since all military forces did at least minimal Intel/Recon operations.

Recruitment of Spainish, Scandanavian, etc Soldiers - extra elite infantry divisions would be awarded to the German core forces (perhaps a maximum of 2 divisions during the course of a campaign)

China
Manpower - allow overstrength of Chinese Infantry units; allow for cheaper costs to replace and purchase infantry units.
- If there is one advantage the Chinese had in WWII, it was an abundance of manpower. This specialization would represent the large number of available manpower in China during WWII and how it could be applied to the game. It could also be used for the USSR.

Burma Road/"Over the Hump" Supply Line - increase RPs for China.
- This would represent the Allied commitment to utilize land and air forces to provide supplies to China during the course of WWII.

Peasant Forces - isolated Chinese infantry would be immune to supply restrictions
- this represents the fact that many of China's military soldiers were from agricultural regions and could "live off of the land" if their official supply lines were cut and they were isolated behind enemy lines.

American Volunteer Group (AVG) Forces - China gets an experienced (perhaps 3 stars) P-40 fighter unit added to the core forces with a leader (Gen Claire Chennault) with +2 to both large and small aircraft attack and +2 to aircraft defense.
- this would represent the Flying Tigers and their successful use of advanced aerial combat tactics.

USSR
Partisans - random partisan infantry units pop-up behind enemy lines (supply immune). Perhaps a 5-strength infantry unit with modest attack values and low defense values.
- Stalin vigorously encouraged partisan activity and it was one of the single biggest problems for the German forces. This could also be applicable to the Chinese forces.

Artillery Improvement (aka "Stalin's Organs") - increase range, Inf attack, Mech Attack, Shock, and add Defensive Fire Support capability to Artillery units.
- The USSR employed a lot of artillery units to great affect on the battlefield. It was definitely a conscious effort to utilize Soviet artillery to achieve maximum destruction and demoralization.

Industrial Conversion from Civilian Use to Military Use - additional mechanized forces are added to the USSR core forces during the course of a campaign (perhaps two random tanks?)
- this represents the conversion of many civilian tractor factories to the production of armor units.

Italy
I have to admit, this was tough to come up with something for Italy. The recommendations below are generic and could be applied to almost any nation.

Super Recon Units - all Recon units would have an increase to their mobility, spotting, attack, and defense values. Also, land Recon units could take objectives on the battlefield.
- this is simply an effort to improve the value of Recon units. In their current form, I do not use Recon due their very poor capabilities and terrible defensive values.

Oil Refinery Improvements - all units gain +1 to their movement ability.
- this would represent an improvement in the production of oil and fuel, and enhanced defenses for oil refineries. If a more efficient type of oil/fuel were developed, and it is easily produced and transported, then it would have a dramatic effect on the battlefield.

Improved Naval Bombardment Techniques - all naval units get an increase of +1 (or maybe +2) to their Inf and Mech attack values.
- this would represent a Navy's focused effort to improve the accuracy of shore bombardment to maximize the destruction of land targets.

These suggestions are just food for thought and hopefully a few can be incorporated. At the very least, they may provide a spark of ingenuity to the game developers and they can be amended or transformed into useable specializations.

This is an awesome game and I congratulate you on a job well done and look forward to the new content!

Entirely agree on this one.

Agree iun essence, but I think the supply effects should be lowered, not ignored entirely. You can live off the land, but not make bullets out of rice.

I would muyself suggest "Warlord Militias" - a chance to spawn free infantry, but taht is outside of player's control and instead moved by the AI. The chinese had large numbers of units, but these often did not answer to the main kuomintangt command, ignored orders or acted only at the orders of local warlords. Would be nice if teh game simulated this.
And it may just be me, but anything with a swastika on it should probably be avoided due to the negative perception (rightly so!) associated with that piece of symbolism. I'm not gonna advocate a swastika flag, I think a naval ww2 german flag with a tiny iron cross in place of the swastika would be best, especially for gemran gamers. If someone wants historiucal flags, there can always be mods. Having said that, I need to stress that there were famous wargames using the historical german national flag.
The probably most famous and renowned grand strategy ww2 wargame:

Hello All,

Just as an FYI, you can't have Swastikas in any form in the official release of the game, because the game will be released in Germany and Germany do not allow Swastikas. So although User Mods can include them, games which are released by a company to the German market will never have them in the game - whether it be a historical fact or not.
