Outflank the enemy

Post by divi8 » Tue Mar 10, 2015 10:06 am

The battle of Edgehill.
In the briefing of the scenario is adviced to attack the horses on the flank and then attack the foot in the flank.
But the enemy horses on both flanks kept me busy and when I finally penetrate and try to attack foot from the flanks, the pike just turn towards my foot...

So I only manage to attack the enemy in the flank by coincidence. What is a good tactic to outflank the enemy? Should one take the enemy in a tong (this is a literally translation from my language)?

For the record, I did won Edgehill but only outflanked one enemy by ... coincidence.

I am sure that the Royalists hoped to outflank the Parliamentarian foot, but it didn't work historically, because the Royalist cavalry pursued off the battlefield after defeating the opposing Parliamentarian cavalry.

So it is entirely realistic that you should not succeed in doing it.
