Cracking an enemy unit by shooting it to death...

So, I'm not sure if this is a question for RBS or veteran players of this game. I realize that a combination of shooting(lets say with bows or arquebus) and cannon is a great way to crack a units cohesion causing it to drop a level or two. My question is, is there a reasonable way to determine the effectiveness of this strategy? I realize that looking at the flag icon above the unit indicates manpower losses and resultant effectiveness reduction...but does it in any way indicate potential cohesion drops? I'm assuming no, but was curious. Are there any quick indicators to assess cohesion drop potential?
Any insight appreciated.
Cheers
Alex

There are no quick indicators, but you'll get a good feel for it just by playing. If you want to know the actual calculations involved, see pg 42 of the pdf manual.

Much depends on your Dice Roll Alex, roll 1:6, no effect - 6:1, they double drop
