No Deploy turn on mission after Shuttle Rescue mission.

Post by Hellbishop » Thu Nov 27, 2014 3:39 pm

Greetings :D I replayed the mission after the Shuttle Rescue mission where the Orks are invading and I have to withdraw to defend two bridges. Last night everything played fine after two replays but this morning when pressing restart mission from an autosave where I lost the Orks started attacking right away without the game pulling up the Deploy units menu for me to put my army on the map at the start of the scenario. I retried three times but still got no deploy option. I can still purchase units though. Thanks for reading.

Sorry you are having problems. As I understand, the problem is repeatable: every time you load your autosave and press Restart mission, you get the problem. Could you please send this save to me? rudankort@rsdn.ru Thx!

I think this has something to do with the Orks actually having the first turn of action in this scenario. Out of curiosity, what happens if you try to force deploy a unit? Open up your unit 'reserve list' and pick units from here. Do you not get any deployment zones anywhere on the map at all?

It looks like this...

Deploy phase:

If you don't put all your units down, they end up in reserve.

You can recall the reserve list and deploy them from here even when it's not the deployment phase anymore, as you can see it says it is 'turn 2' here.

I didn't even know about the reserve list. I thought those boxes were just for decoration. Ouch

Unfortunately I just finish playing the same mission as a stand alone scenario until the campaign version is fixed and the autosave feature overwrote my campaign save for that map. So am going to have to replay the Shuttle Rescue mission and then this one again. I will let you know what happens when I do. Thanks Kerensky and long live the Wolf Dragoon's Black Widow Company :D

I got to the deploy bugged mission today and yes like you said the Orcs have the first turn but the game has me deploy my troops and purchase any new ones before the first turn. I was able to get to the next mission without a problem and with plenty of war gaming enjoyment thankfully.

I didn't see any units in the reserve list when the save bugged out on me after trying your advice. Thanks again Kerensky for letting me know about the reserve list didn't know about it or the other boxes on the same column.

Oh yes, there are all manner of features in this game, some with a little less documentation or explanation than others though as we really wanted as much functionality for 1.0 as we could cram into the game. But that's why we are here to help! For example, you can click on all kinds of things, like examples in this thread show.

I hope your re-play goes off without a hitch! It's only mission 4 you're on, there is still a massive campaign ahead of you to play through.

And you noticed my name I see... who hires a BattleTech guy to develop a Warhammer game?

Thanks for the highly informative link Kerensky. Its been awhile since a game has given me the pleasure of ui exploration discovering all the things that are possible. Back in the 1990s it was common even with the extra thick manuals they had back then.

Got past mission 4 yesterday and am enjoying the next one immensely. Love how my troops which survived the previous scenario are carried over to the next one.

In a lot of ways BattleTech and Warhammer are very similar with the extreme carnage of lives, lost tech the search and worship of it, salvage being like gold which can make or break a company, the highly fleshed out political and feudal system, the excellently played and paced Comstar in the different games and novels etcs.

Too bad Fasa went out of business. Everything they did was highly detailed and fleshed out. One of my favorite books is their Mercernery Handbook from the 1980s. That thing had everything from merc salaries to hiring practices and equipment prices etc.

The BattleTech novels by Stackpole are also a fantastic read especially the Wolf Dragoons and their relations with House Kurita.
