Shards' Scenarios

Post by Shards »

Right, so it seems that updating the download links and tweaks to my scenarios means that I take over half the board, so it's probably time to do my own Scenario thread instead!

Although all your MP scens are greatly appreciated, I'm sure, how about a new singleplayer scen, Shards? Tallinn was a good one, and it's been over half a year already.... :)

Good move to make a "one-stop shopping" thread like this, Shards. Thanks.

Here's a suggestion which I have found to be a good arrangement and I think Erik and Duplex have as well. That is, wherever you announce your work, you refer back to this thread and here is where you keep in the opening post all of your current download links and version numbers (missing above).

You can still have your specific topical threads for each piece of work but here is where people should go when they follow the Custom Campaigns/Scenarios links. Here they would always get operable download links and know what the latest version numbers are as you update them.

Just my two cents. If you agree, it would be my pleasure to go back through your Custom Campaigns/Scenarios posts and link them all here. If you don't agree, ignore this post and I will assume you prefer things as they are.

+1 to Bru
I think it is best for players that we use one single system for where to find the latest versions of our stuff.

Agree. It's way easier now to find the up-to-date custom scens with one single thread as the central hub.

And if I may, I'd suggest you guys additionally put then a link back to the respective scenario's/campaign's separate "discussion thread" somewhere next to the download link (of the central hub's thread) :?:

Hi!

@Bru, if you want to go around and cross-linking my stuff, you're more than welcome :D

@Gabe, My map making is very much spur of the moment when I've got a creative urge and an idea that I want to get done.... The latest two maps were because I wanted to give more ammo for the next MP tournament and Oasis was because I wanted to do a map with sandstorms and the new ridge lines! I'll start chewing over some additional ideas though, see if there's any trigger stuff that I haven't messed with before that I might want to push the limits of!

Will do tonight. Or today if I get bored at work which, come to think of it, is extremely likely.

Done. Two things:
  • You never formally announced Peninsula Invasion and Two Bridges that I can see, so those are not listed in the Custom Multiplayer Scenarios thread to link back here.
  • Ban me for saying so (I'll come back as Deja Bru to haunt you) but I'll tell you what I would say to my two sons: "Clean up your room (opening post)! It looks like a pig sty!" Erik knows how to keep his room (opening post) neat. Why aren't you more like Erik? :x ( )

heh, Thanks! :D

Penninsula and Two Bridges are "semi-official" content. I didn't announce them as I just gave them to Adherbal to include in the game after I'd made them :) If the v1.3's don't come up with any errors, I'll just get him to include them in the next patch and remove from here.

I'll tidy my room in a bit mom!

Hello... Long time no see...

Just saw the news post about the scenarios for the new DLC and wanted to bump this thread and encourage any beta testers to test my MP Raseiniai scenario in the new version and let me know whether it would need any tweaks?

Thanks :D

Shards! Welcome back. I'd help you out but I'm an OOB loner; single-player only for me. Say, is there any outpouring of inspiration on the horizon such as your mighty Battle of Tallinn?

Not to toot my own horn, but I'm playing a couple of MP matches with some of my maps from above and thoroughly enjoying myself :D Well done past me!

And no, sorry Bru, but I don't have any particular inspiration at the moment to make a new SP scenario...

Heh, neither do I, as you may have noticed if you witnessed the latest portion of my thread. That ship has left the dock and the wind no longer fills its sails. Curiously, my interest in OOB remains undiminished, and not just playing but development as well yet only in private and in partnership. Be that as it may, it's nice to see you back in these precincts, Shards.

It's probably an MP map though, sorry :)

Mayhaps you are referring to this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battles_of_Khalkhin_Gol

You know, it's not that hard to take somebody's MP scenario and turn it into a single-player. The heavy lifting is in the map-making, unit selection, and gameplay balance. You do that heavy lifting and I will profit from it. Privately, of course.

Small self-congratulations. Won a game of Karjelan Kesa by slipping a unit of paratroopers around the edge of the map and landing them onto the enemy HQ for insta-win!

Cheesy as all heck, but it amused me anyway, and justified my believe that maps should always have an infantry deploy hex on every airfield so that players can deploy paras if they wish!
