Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
come on there is nothing random about it. played the 1st German campaign 6th scenario 3 times and the Jeep has not failed a moving shot yet. that is 18 success in a row.
Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
Though I agree with you, the reasons of this belief is understandable :
_ most computer have the AI cheat by design. (Put in another way the dev can program cheating dice very easily).
_ sometimes there are bug that does not give the expected outcome.
_ the rng works with a seed numbers which though giving statiscal result does not mimics dice exactly or is believe to work so.(I am not a specialist but I red that that).
As I red in a paper on beliefs in video game, as at least the 2 are verified facts in other circumstances it is easier to believe them and harder to dismiss than common belief (like rabit pawn give you luck).

Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
kids don't understand the unpredictability of dice, so unless you have played a dice game before where the rolls can be or seem to be fixed is a matter of opinion, roll 3 x 6's and you hear it called lucky, roll 3 x 1's and it's cheating lol, so funny.
if you hit a tank on the other side of the map, in or behind cover over the same distance, and get a hit, it's a lucky shot.
if you see a man next to your tank and fire either you're main gun or MG at it and miss both times, you're unlucky, live with it, as in life you don't always get the rolls you like or expect, and in the next round you get killed by a lucky shot from the AI over the same distance by the same target you shot at, tough, you die, reload and try again, over time you will get to the end and win.
just because you don't on your first 10 tries, doesn't mean your not skilful or didn't try hard enough, just meant you was unlucky, plain and simple

Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
I think this game eliminates units far to quickly, I would like to see more than just a dice roll.
Example: Tank crews, pin markers, unit break, fires, unlimited turns etc. But I realize this is a fast paced game (not a whole lot of game turns) and not much chance it will stray from the board game.

Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
update fixed that problem. jeep was hitting on a 4-6 when moving. now it has to roll a 5-6 when moving

After 132 online game I can says that the dice here are a Madness That`about what you have to expect from 20 dice rolls:
11111112222333444556.........1 to 6 with a D6 Not much not few......It`s not OK!!!

Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
Except that they are a perfectly reasonable output from a truly random generator, as would be 111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111116CptAlatriste wrote:After 132 online game I can says that the dice here are a Madness That`about what you have to expect from 20 dice rolls:

Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
Did you ever had a dice I mean a real one in the hand??? pipfromslitherine you kick me.....I play since 47 years and so what like this.... I never saw it!! Just say you want to change nothing..It`s OK.....Sad but OK!
Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
CptAlatriste, you don't give evidences that the roll are not random. I think you fail to make a difference between the roll are random and the game rely too much on die roll. If you want to make PiP change his mind you either have to show piece of code that twick the random or show a meaningful series (1 000 000?). Remind a random generator should be able to generate 20 "1" in a row (or 20 "6" for that matter) a small statiscal probability is still a possibility.
Do you play against other players? The die roll will be even against another player. The game is made to be played this way. Playing it, solo is frustrating because a bad roll break everything and you WILL remind this one and not all the lucky one.

Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
A real dice can easily reproduce that sequence, it's just very unlikely on any given run. But if you do it enough times you would expect to see it. Do you really think a real dice has something in it that says that when you roll a 1 there is a reduced chance of the next roll being a 1?CptAlatriste wrote:Did you ever had a dice I mean a real one in the hand??? pipfromslitherine you kick me.....I play since 47 years and so what like this.... You feel a problem with the randomness in multi player too? for both side?CptAlatriste wrote:Yes 134 Done 12 openSkanvak wrote:C

Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
Yes Absolutly.....We had two time once with a grenade and once with a Mortar( and he have first to range ) Grenade hit // Mortar hit always 4 units under the template kill 2+ = twice 4 x 1.......Ask MarvinC and Grumbel......And people says here...It`s Ok!! I don`t know what ever to do Cry or laugh!! I attack 10 times with KAMPTZ System says 95% i throw 10 times 2 x 1 and the opponent, 6 !!! Cry or Laugh????
Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
Yes, the snake eyes (1,1) vs a single 6 is unlikely but we've seen with real dice too...often enough to be memorable.CptAlatriste wrote:Yes Absolutly.....We had two time once with a grenade and once with a Mortar( and he have first to range ) Grenade hit // Mortar hit always 4 units under the template kill 2+ = twice 4 x 1.......Ask MarvinC and Grumbel......And people says here...It`s Ok!! And about that time is usually when those dice go flying across the room! ;p
But I haven't seen any particular trend in the dice rolls after a few dozen games played. I get plenty of bad rolls but I get plenty of good rolls as well (and I've seen both my opponents and the AI have the same results).
Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
when you get a run of good dice you say you are lucky, when you lose you say it's bad dice and a rubbish program, seem the developers can never win on this one tbh, for me it works as designed and yes sometimes like in life you hit a pin head a mile away with a bullet then miss a tank in the next hex, it's life, either understand dice or not but enjoy the game as it's fun and very playable, and will grow over time with added bits like the board game

Re: ABOUT THE DICE ROLLS
Die rolling an RNG should be taken out of games and more "skill" involved like in Conquest Medieval (my favorite game from here next to Spartan).
When skill is involved then luck pretty much takes a back seat. As long as RNG is involved the outcomes just aren't realistic. Point blank fire at 100% accuracy misses are not realistic. Maybe once in 1000 shots but not as often as I see them in many games get misses where there should have been a hit.
Plus, games with RNG the dam computer might as well just play the game. It determines all the outcomes by some socalled random number it came up with (that they say the devs don't mess with. They say. Who's they anyways? No one significant I'm sure. Even devs are human and not above not telling the whole truth)
Anything hidden from the players eyes can be altered and messed with. I'm a firm believer in that. To bandaid a near non-existant AI they just change the outcome of the die roll or rng number behind your back. We've all seen what "seeding" can do (makes the same roll all the time every time you reload) So, what makes you think a dev can't do other alterior motive things?

"point blank fire" is nice but it is not the only factor involved...jammed gun, wounded, Julie-(getting caught with your pants down), ammo, the unexpected guy charging you with a pick axe etc.
How many times do you think a good solder faces "point blank fire"...more often than not.
