Re: News
One of the aims of V3 is to make average troops more viable. A points increase for superiors is just one of the methods of doing that.Perhaps I could have been clearer, I did download the army builder and played about with it, which lead me to asking if the points had been changed as I don't recall any discussion on this here - superior mounted and some foot a point more expensive, superior pike 2 points more expensive and knights 3 points more expensive. Without a context or background of discussion those seem pretty radical
Players still prefer superiors over average - but that may change over time.
The increase for superiors is only 1 point for most troops (including superior pike).
The increase for knights is 3 points and for heavy chariots 2 points.
The aim is for superiors to be roughly 50% more than the equivalent average ones.
Re: News
Quality re-rolls have been significantly changed, which should make poor troops a bit better. Although they are poor for a reason and you probably shouldn't be expected to win with themmarty wrote:Glad to hear the average vs superior thing has got a bit of a touch up. Has anything been done for poor non-skirmishers (points or otherwise)?

Did lists change to allow knights and chariots that normally can only be bought as superior to now be bought as average?terrys wrote: One of the aims of V3 is to make average troops more viable. A points increase for superiors is just one of the methods of doing that.

Most armies will now have an option of average where they previously only had superior versions of those troops.Did lists change to allow knights and chariots that normally can only be bought as superior to now be bought as average?

Too many to list really.Hello everyone.

As far as the important ones go - it depends on which army you're using.
Some of the more important:
> Superior are more expensive (and therefore of lower value)
> Most Average shock troops are better
> Heavy foot move a little faster (although to compensate pikes are less manoeuvrable)
> Skirmishers are of less value
> Winning the impact phase is more important
> A new weapon type (Pole Arms) has been introduced
> New lists force players to use at least some average battle troops

Re: News
No idea of the specifics but the idea was to make a pole arm better against mounted at impact but less effective than HW in melee. Just guessing but maybe pole arm won't have the armour cancelling ability that the can openers do.How is a pole arm versus a Heavy Weapon?

Romans biggest gain is in speed of movement.I play mostly Roman (republican or principate) or any type of army based on French knight
We haven't completed the French list as yet, but, as with a lot of medieval armies, you'll get a selection of average knights.
Because they've been improved (compared to superiors ones) you could find that you'll be fielding even more knights in future.

Hi All,
I've just been playing around with the V3 Builder - Is it correct that Allied commanders are now cheaper Insp.70, Field 40 and Troop 20? Or is there a mistake?
Cheers

That's correct, although I'm not aware of an allied general that can be inspired.RobKhan wrote:Hi All,

It shouldn't allow you an Inspired Ally; a field commander should cost 40 normally, 30 if allied; a troop 30 normally, 20 if allied.RobKhan wrote:Hi All,

Can somebody out there check if this works correctly. There may be a problem with the lookups due to translations
