Good point, how about something along the lines of 2 army break points of foot battle troops for every army break point of artillery. This would mean in your 3 BGs of Terciis you could have 3 BGs of guns.timmy1 wrote:No. If you had three Early Tercios you could only take one BG of artillery.

3 BGs of Tercios (6 army break points) give 1.5 BGs of guns (3 army break points) by your formularavenflight wrote:2 army break points of foot battle troops for every army break point of artillery. This would mean in your 3 BGs of Terciis you could have 3 BGs of guns.

Have I worded it bad??
1 BG of artillery = 1 break point
1 GBG of tercii = 2 break points.
If my rule was implemented 1 GBG means 1 Arty.
No??

Re: Sundry List Changes - proposal
Having just refought Breitenfeld a couple of times I was considering Early Tercios from the Early 30YW Catholic list which are 12 bases and therefore not GBGs.

Ah, ok, well, I must admit I haven't played much with GBG's, but I would have thought once you get to 12 bases it would be prudent to go up the extra bases needed to make them GBG's. Perhaps this is a bit of an anomoly.DavidT wrote:Having just refought Breitenfeld a couple of times I was considering Early Tercios from the Early 30YW Catholic list which are 12 bases and therefore not GBGs.

After due consideration we have decided that, with the exception of the second point - This proposal will be implemented

OK, to get away from commanded shot for a while here are the current proposed changes to lists - although it needs the artillery:foot ratio adding (there's always one more thing ...).

The musket only BG in the Early 30YW Swedes - the these were often quite small units: a BG size of 4-6 would be more representative. Would they also not be salvo? They would presumably have been trained to fire a large salvo and then charge as they were deployed in support of the brigades - although there does not appear to be evidence one way or the other.

Almost forgot - the Later German States list in the Duty & Glory book, should allow "Spanish riders" for the Bavarian army as well as the Saxons, but in their case from 1686 when they got rid of their pikes (see quotes). Happy for it to apply only to all-musket (and bayonet) foot BGs.

Also, you made a reference to the "missing bayonets" in the Austrian lists from this book. I wasn't privy to that discussion, what happened?

Just had two games of Poles v Swedish circa 1662. Winged Hussars used as impact mounted , pistol. The change resulted in a much better performance by the Hussars being up on impact , then evens in melee when facing the Swedish determined horse.i will now base my third hussar unit.
