How to add a weapon to an unit?

Let's say I don't care much about the look of my unit, and want to turn the meltaguns into combi melta and the flamers into combi flamers.
I tried copying the relevant lines for the bolter as 3rd weapon for the Grey Hunter with mela and flamer, and the button appears in the UI when I click on the button for the new firemode, nothing happens, and I spend one action.
I suppose the callback function is looking for the animation for the 3rd weapon, and doesn't do anything because there is none obviously.
Is there a way to override the callback function to play an existing animation (or better, to play the weapon 1 animation but with bolter projectiles)?

Did you or anyone else work out how to get this to work?

I've encountered this same problem as I am trying to create a group of Wolves with Sniper rifles in SQUADS.CSV. I am using the correct IDS of IDS_WEAPONNAME49,"Sniper Rifle", and bam nothing. No sound, no shot and a wasted action point.
