If I don't like the new features of Panzer Corps 2, I would be happy as a Panzer Corps 1 player, if the existing maps would be exportable for the previous version and playable with a possible standard setting on vehicles. Alternatively, maybe in the game a switch for "Panzer Corps 1 Mode".

Yeah, perhaps it would be best, as someone said, to make them a switching unit like the Sahariani or LRDG, with (some) combat capability even when mounted. The halftracks and trucks are currently just death traps...

Well, the super heavy tanks and other speculative stuff are fun, but I'd prefer if there was a historical PCII with more-or-less historical equipment as the base. Perhaps the speculative stuff should be in a separate, more free-wheeling "alt" campaign?

The end-war scenarios in PC with Mauses (Mäusen?) and V1 / V2s and superheavy artillery all over the place never seemed as balanced and compelling to me as the really interesting mid-war stuff.

A serious appraisal of the combat value of the Maus and other superheavies would have them rated very poorly. They would have been like the big siege guns - effective in a very narrow role in breaking sieges, but taking weeks to get into place for a very short offensive operation. Given their mechanical complexity and difficulty moving them around, they probably would have broken down / bogged often, and taken a long time to repair / retrieve. And they didn't really have any more firepower than a heavy tank, just more armor. I suspect they would have been extremely vulnerable to close assault and air attack. In a game like PC, they could have high attack and defence, but should have a move value of no more than 2, and about 2 ammo / 5 fuel to simulate the extreme awkwardness of using them operationally. And 0 close combat.

Personally, id like to see mortars in the game.. after all, they were the most numerous support weapons, each infantry division had a lot of them, and effectivity wise 120mm mortar was as effective as 155mm field howitzer (explosion size, effect on target) while 80-82mm mortars were as effective as 105mm howitzers..

Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread but the timing is ok. The following are in addition to the PzC roster and I think some have been mentioned already.

In general:
-horse transport (imo, too numerous not to be in the game)
-mobile airfield
-ski troops
-airborn support weapons (light AT/Art)
-a few different types of fortifications, like AA/AT emplacements. Same could go for armored trains.
-reserve inf, bridging engineers for minor nations
-separate ground transport categories for inf and guns (maybe an expanded version of the lightpull/heavypull traits in PzC 1 for certain guns)
-HQ units

Germany:
-Volksturm, volksgrenadiere, Polizei battalion
-marder I, and other modded enemy armor
-Panzer IV/70(A) Alkett
-sIG 38(t)H
-Sturmtiger
-early Panzer III/IV and StuGIII variants
-Panzer 35t
-variations on Sdkfz 250
-variations on Sdkfz 251
-variations on Sdkfz 234
-RSO
-Sdkfz 10
-3.7 cm Flakzwilling 43
-sIG 33 Panzer III
-Ju 88/188 variants
-He 219

USSR:
-Naval Inf
-HW Inf
-Shtrafbat punishment unit (maybe?)
-Partisans
-KV-1s
-Aerosan
-universal carrier with AT rifle

UK:
-AEC Armored Car
-Crusader AAA variants
-M5 Stuart recce (turretless version)

US:
-T8 Reconnaissance Vehicle (M5 turretless version)

Canada:
-Otter Armored Car

Italy:
-Paratroopers
-Fiat G.50, G.55
-Savoia-Marchetti SM.82
-Reggiane 2000 serie fighters

Romania:
-TACAM R-2 and T-60
-IAR 80/81
-IAR 79

Hungary:
-Toldi I/II/III and Turán tanks
-Zrínyi,
-Nimród

Finland:
-BT-42

Adding unit types and increasing the number of vehicle types might seem like an attractive idea at first. However, I feel that expanding unit inventory to include all (fringe) historical units and vehicles might not serve much practical purpose.
In short- because you probably don't want to spend your prestige on every stop-gap model that comes along. Players tend to save prestige. For example, I don't remember the last time I bought Marders. Always go for stugs and then elefant. (Which doesn't mean I don't like Marders, but I exclusively use them for 'flavour' :).
What use is including police or reserve infantry? Why would a player spend, let's say 100 prestige (and a unit slot) on a police unit with poor fighting stats? Historically, these units were supposed to guard installations and garrison towns; they had serious problems handling even partisans...
Stug variants are adequately represented in Panzer Corps. Early variants, historically, were engine and drive-train upgrades. Gun was the same.
Panzer 35t and various patch-work sp-artillery is another redundancy problem.

Having horse transports might be the most interesting one, that was also featured in Panzer General series. Mostly non-core units had horses, which I thought was a good compromise.

Maybe I should clarify why I want these units. Indeed, not buying every subtype is sensible, police/reserve troops, etc are not awesome (although the new core system may go some way to balance this out), and some early variants of German AFVs were only minor upgrades to their predecessors. However, I am thinking about AI and aux unit usages for scenario/campaign design purposes, which is one of my favorite parts of Panzer Corps. I may not be the typical Panzer Corps player in that to me, the game is more about creating a world/environment than winning a scenario in the most efficient way possible. So, I want to have Volksturm and Police battalions comprising the Berlin garrison, Sov Naval Inf defending Russia, captured/modified French armor in Normandy, a large proportion of horse drawn equipment, etc. Put simply, I welcome the flavor, but I'm not kidding myself. I don't expect to see all the units I listed in PC2, but it is nevertheless a wish-list and I'd rather have more than less. To me, the game is more compelling with more variety but we each have our own take on how much is enough. In the current game, I modded the equipment roster to redundancy in the past so I know there is a limit. For my taste, my previous post isn't too unreasonable and unlike in PC, once we go 3D, making icons for new units will be beyond my ability and willpower.
